A machine for gore...be scared.

OK I played this on GOG not steam, if you want me to prove it ill provide my game collection. Now onto why I didn't care for this game. The story is terrible, the scares are shock-type, and it rellied to heavily on having a disturbing atmosphere than being horror. What's the difference between disturbing and horror you may ask? Disturbing is when someone shows you a pile of intestines in order to make you sick. Horror is not disgust or disturbance so much as it is not knowing anything about where you are, how you got there, and why there is a puddle of blood and intestines on the floor. Horror is not knowing, disturbing is disgusting and grotesque.

Now wait I know what you're gonna say, "But it is unknown, you don't lnow what you've done or why." Which is such a dumb arguement that i can shatter just by saying this. In the very ♥♥♥♥ING BEGINNING of this "Unknown experience" you hear the line "Daddy please don't kill me..." I CAN GUESS WHAT HAPPENED OK! NOT EXACTLY ROCKET SCIENCE!

Now onto why the atmosphere is an issue. Atmosphere is a great TOOL let me repeat that TOOL in horror, Not the ♥♥♥♥ing BASIS of it. Atmosphere is just where the horror resides, not the horror itself. The atmosphere also relies way to much on blood, guts, feces, and other shocking imagery. It's not shocking, it's boring.

The stories abilities seem to be "Pig puns, blood, guts, etc. cut and print it" and the atmosphere has nothing interested within it that makes me shudder and proceed with caution. Yes I didn't proceed...out of BOREDOM. Not fear, BOREDOM.

And don't give me this "WELL YOU DONT UNDERSTAND IT CAUSE YOU'RE TOO STUPID!" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ok? I know horror. I was raised on horror stories by the late great Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft. I started reading Stephen King and Dean Koontz in the Fifth Grade. This game is not horrorfying, it isn't interesting, and it isn't very fun.

That is my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.

What if i told you that this first line "Daddy, don't kill me!" is in fact the machine talking to Mandus when he attemp to sabotage it, being his "father" and the machine with all the manpigs his "children"?
Try to get out of your mind boundaries for once.

You say you're grown with Poe, and still you can't see how this belogn to poems like The Raven?

I did not finish it. The story was so bland. Also this is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ NOTHING like Poe. I'm sorry but a guy building a machine to make pig cops and then feeding everyone to it isnt interesting. It's boring. This game is ♥♥♥♥, it's a rushed cashcow with amnesia slapped on it. Never associate the great name of Edgar Allen Poe with this piece of garbage. This is about as Poe as barney, and at least barney is acctually scary.

If you finish it there's just more to make fun of, in the middle of the game (Where you're in the pigs sleeping area and you see that they're civilized and the aesthetic is good, which lasts just a few minutes) it's great, but when you get to the end with over-the-top machinery that would be impossible to build by today's standards and the electro-teleporting super pig. The game just gets silly and starts getting more and more so as you progress.

Illgib I didn't finish it bcause it was boring. That means its a bad game. I played for an hour and was bored to tears. You're only defending this games cause you're one of those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who thinks games that are boring are introspective and just misunderstood. I know, It's ok to like it but ive seen so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on these forums where this games suporters bring out the pretentious "You just didn't understand it" arguement, or they don't read the damn post to hear WHY I didn't like it and try to explain to me how wrong I am for not liking their "masterpiect that's totally better than the dark descent". That's what ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoyed me and that's why I called him pretentious. He called this a hate thread when it was only a frustrated opinion piece about how I felt about the game and how the supporters of said game treat people who didn't like it.

It depends on your expectations. I'll be honest with you. At first I hated this game, I jumped on the Hate Train and bashed the hell out of it. Then I played it again and started looking at it differently, from another approach and I ended up liking it. I don't think it's as good as TDD but I thought it was a pretty good game.

Well that's good, enjoy what you enjoy. It's not a bad game if you're into these sort of games. Just I'm not. I have no problem with people liking this game. I have a problem with some of it's defenders trying to tell me why I'm wrong for not enjoying it.

My arguement was pretty sensible till you fanboy's decided not to read the post and just jump on the hate train blindly. If you like the game thats cool, I even say that's cool, but if you come on MY thread sharing what i thought about the game and try to tell me my opinion is wrong without even READING my thoughts on it, then yes I'm going to be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
