I never had played the first amnesia when I bought this one. I decided not to play the second until i beat the first. I played the first and i didnt find it even the littlest bit scary. the second wasnt really supposed to be scary as much as just a good story line. (Im not saying that i agree with a horror game choosing not to be scary but its the way it is). the story line in the second one was significantly better than that of the first. I may have just got a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ending in the first but i litterally spent 20 minutes in a cell while nothing happened and then died... so the ending of the first one was much worse for me lol

Sorry but... stuck in that jail cell(you just needed to break the fall)... that wasn't even the ending... first game not scary to you?? are you drunk??? 99.9 of peps will say that first game is way scariesr then the " second " but still it is your opinion, soo good luck to you sir.
The first amnesia stops being scary halfway through when you realize that you can just let the monster kill you and you will have one less obstacle to get to the next part

That being said... TCR admitted they made the game less scary intentionally because they wanted people to finish the game... That's something even I can't defend (and I loved my experience with this game)

Well i didn't, cuz i wasnt even scared :(
I was dissapointed, I bought it day-one, that was terrible expirience, not scary at all.
Penumbra was a lot more disturbing than the Amnesia games. Not scary in the traditional sense of the word, but it has an amazing way of twisting your mind and making you feel horrible about what you're doing.

It's a very good game, but i havent finished it :(
People fail to notice that this is made by different developers, whose only real game is a walking simulator by the name of Dear Ester. You expected too much from this.

Penumbra has that delicious sense of dread where even the pause menu creeps you out

getting out of the cell was the next puzzle, you technically didn't finish the game.

the story line in the second one was significantly better than that of the first.
I'm going to against the grain and say that this is good news. I played the first game. it was creepy as ♥♥♥♥, but as once I discovered that there's no consequence to getting killed by a monster, the game lost it's edge. if the second game is the same as the first in that there is no consequence in getting killed, then it's a good thing that it has a stronger story.
I dunno.. first one didn't really scare me at all, I liked to let it chase me and throw what ever I could at it (live streaming) it was a lot of fun for that reason but the game over all didn't really do much for me outside of ring around the shadow. I was going to buy this but I'm glad I read the forums first. thanks guys
I played the first one and enjoyed it, but this one is terrible. I thought this would be scary, but it sure isn't. Not only that, it is more on the boring side. Not even worth the discounted price. Certainly a disappointment.
