Simplified shadows, screwed SSAO, oversaturation here and there, hd-textures in your dreams only, and a tesselation so accurate it ♥♥♥♥♥ up every face in in-engine cut-scenes, you can call it a deal...
Wat?
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/46250/ - Original
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/46252/ - Director's Cut
Move the mouse over each picture to change between low and max detail. It seems the only thing they really do, was to remove the post processing.
Not to mention the misplaced textures some people are reporting (and that you can see in the picture, just look at the ceiling and walls).
The idea that they ported the WiiU version to PC instead of using the already done original PC version is very possible.
It's enough to look at the ceiling and floor (and wallpaper) in Adam's apartment kitchen to see that there is some mess involving the textures department as the trip-board in the same scene to see that something is messed up in the lighting department as well...
The street view, in the meanwhile, looks simply TERRIBLE.
Look at the above links, the second image, the ceiling is the most noticeable point, the mipmap stuff is clearly broken...there is very little to say other than BROKEN.
The textures look less defined and have a slightly lower resolution it seems (alongside the weird stuff that people posted already).
There are also the stutter problems. I managed to fix the stuttering with the methods provided here, but there are still micro stutters in the game. The original game on the other hand does not stutter one bit for me. I was really suprised that it run that smooth.
So yea, they just ported the Wii U Version to PC and I doubt they'll patch the DC to be just like the original visually. Perhaps they'll fix the performance problems but I don't think they would put the effort in updating it in the visual side.
You mean they will leave MESSED UP TEXTURING around ?
Just take a look at the above post and take a moment to watch the images of the links...and notice the ceiling, the floor and the wallpaper in the DC version how compares to the original, THEY SIMPLY CANNOT TELL TAHT'S NOT A MESS.
Clearly they either ported the WiiU version or used a unpatched Deus Ex to do the Director Cut. Both are weird and stupid decisions. Most problems than people are reporting were fixed with patches in the original.
Grainy SSAO? Patched in the original:
http://store.steampowered.com/news/8044/
"- SSAO has been improved to look less noisy."
No subtitle option? patched in the original:
http://store.steampowered.com/news/6272/
"- Added an option to change the text language of the game. This setting only changes the text language, the audio is controlled by the language option in Steam."
And of course the microstuttering, which was mostly patched.
I hope they'll fix that, but I seriously doubt they'll bump up the texture and lighting quality. The weird texture placement will probably be fixed.
Mhh... They did not intend to do the Director's Cut for all platforms, so I think they just took the downgraded Wii U Version at the last minute and repackaged it as a PC Version, hence why we have all the visual and performance problems.
