UFO: Afterlight

UFO: Afterlight

[mine]Kry Jan 6, 2014 @ 8:57am
Already had game, mistankely bought again.
I already had the previous release of Afterlight on Steam, but as this was marketed as a "new" release I mistankely thought that was I previously had was Aftermath, so I bought this "new" version. Now I own this game twice in my library, and I'm not happy at all about having paid for it again. Any developer willing to comment on what I can do to solve this? Delisting and then re-listing with a new ID is pretty sneaky because Steam will no longer tell you that you already own the game.

Most likely they will refund an honest mistake, especially in this circumstance.

What about posting the result here in a few days?

Of course, once I hear back.

Me too! But I bought it from GMG and couldn't register it on Steam, so now I think I have an extra Steam key.

It is nothing against you Kry,please dont take it personally!!!
But I wish people wouldnt always write a "Iam not happy" post in the forum BEFORE opened a ticked and talked to the developer.

I own a shop myself and I prefer the unsatisfied costumer who gives me a chance to solve a problem before yelling it out into the world.

Again alot of people do it on Steam but think before you do that,it might not be the fault of the developer OR they are willing to make up for their mistake.Screaming it out into the world before talked to them is unfair as it doesnt give them a second to react.

And believe me in an angry community as the videogame community is,it matters alot!

I apologize for my English, not a native speaker!

Honestly darth.solo, I think I've been fairly relaxed and fair about what I said. I woulnd't say I am "screaming it out into the world", I dind't insult anyone or anything like that. One of the people marked as "Developers" answered in the other thread, so they are obviously reading this forum. I specifically asked if there was "any developer willing to comment", with the hopes they would also read this one. If they're willing to make up for their mistake, then they can very well mention it here and then everyone with a similar problem will know the proper avenue to get it solved in the best way possible for everyone.

I don't think mentioning my mistake, characterised as a mistake, and asking for a developer's advice on how to best proceed is in any way even near what you just described. I can just ask Steam for a refund, which I've done, but it's important to raise some public awareness as well as a warning to people in a similar situation.

I know you told me not to take it personally, but as you're commenting on a thread I opened, mischaracterizing something I'm doing, I can't just ignore it.

Talking about refund. I've asked GMG if they can give me a refund and they said no.

I saw it on new releases, and a few minutes later suddenly realised I already own it on Steam! I guess they took it off Steam at some point. Would like to see the first two games if possible, I no longer have my copies.

Tbh, I think it is fine. He/she was not rude, and in truth, it might ensure that others dont make the same mistake.

Then maybe the idiots working at this development studio should have downloaded the "edit existing title with new publisher" form, which dozens of other studios have been able to do without issue, and instead these morons filled out the "de-list title" form and the "re-list title", meaning tens of thousands of owners of the previous title now have to figure out why their title is different from this one despite being the EXACT SAME VERSION.
