FATAL ERROR
As soon as I hit play from the launcher, it gives me a fatal error. I hit continue, it brings me to the menu and it asks me to pick my controls. I cant get any father than this point, I click the controls that I want to use and it doesn't register it!! I just get stuck there.
ArgumentNullException: Argument cannot be null.

System.IO.Directory.GetfileSystemEntries (System.String path, System.String searchPattern, FileAttributes mask, FileAttributes attrs)
System.IO.Directory.Getfiles (System.String path, System.String searchPattern)
SystemWorkshop.LoadSteamItems()
SteamWorkShop.start ()

from what I've experienced, Changing the OpenCL calculation to CPU fixes that. But be sure to lower the graphics and turn V-sync on so your CPU doesn't heat up.

I just installed the game and had absolutly the same problem. And I have to say, that I have no choice what to set the OpenCL calculation - it is only CPU. The same nonsense is with the Render - it is only Default. I can only change the resolution and quality and make the game windowed. It doesn't matter.

My system is:
CPU - AMD A10-5750M
GPU - AMD Radeon HD 8970M 2 Gb GDDR5
Memory - 8 Gb 1600 Mhz
SSD - 256 Gb
OS - LMDE 64 bit (Linux Mint Debian Edition).

Aequus, do this! fixed it for me.
What I did was deleted the SystemSaveData.xml file in the \Documents\PlanetExplorers\SaveData. Hope it helps!

I was trying to find such directory, and there is only one which is like you named. This is 'PlanetExplorers/SaveData' in my home directory. And this one doesn't contain any file, so I have nothing to delete.
The problem is actual for me till now.

This fixed it for me! I was beginning to sweat a little bit, this game looks amazing from what I've seen on Youtube!

Same here. Same error. I'm on Ubuntu 14.04. ~/PlanetExplorers/SystemSaveData.xml doesn't exist here (but the folder does, it's just empty).

googled Net Framework 3.5. > installed and got passed the error.
