Possibly like Larien studios did with Divinity dragon knight saga.
Partly so that anything created during our PE play through will carry over into the PE2 play through ... like the one story that it is.
We'll need to move forward further to determine whether or not revisiting PE will be possible. It depends on time, resources, and interest.
As for a Start Game+, this could be rather difficult, since PE is a sandbox game in terms of progression, and it would offset balance greatly between various players. It might be a bit much to try to level the field completely for those starting new, versus those who are coming into the new story "endgame".
However, regarding choices that may have been made during your adventures in Planet Explorers, we may be able to introduce a carry over in terms of dialogue and events, something similar to Mass Effect as I'd imagine. I don't know if we could pull something like that off, but I suppose it's a consideration. We'll see how things go :)
That isn't the case in Planet Explorers though, where regardless of what we do for example
the Martian Colony will get wiped out. Or like the companion Rol who has 20 Revival shots which should allow her to avoid death 20 times.
In one play through I actually roof over the whole martian colony had so many turrets that no Enemies could fall from a ship onto the colony and when all the enemies died, the colonists that were still alive just fell over to follow the scripted deaths. That does NOT make for situation where choices matter.
Hence the reason that PE and PE2 should be rejigged to make a whole story that works with as you say choices that matter.
Anyways, to the topic at hand, while I haven't beaten the story to PE myself, I can say I very much enjoyed the game at least. Perhaps considering that PE is open source now, we can probably get multiplayer on it working again in time once a person or group of people with the know how start messing around with the coding in their own time.
Pathea, good luck on your future endevors and I look forward to PE2 being much more flexible than PE1! Perhaps an idea could be having it use it's own engine? That way you can always add features and won't be restricted to what Unity is capable of.
;)
Looking forward to PE2
And now you are "offering" every1 who bought the game to be "alpha testers" and knock something off the price for PE2 (if that ever happens).
Instead of all this honey you use to try and get people to give you more money in the end, how about you try and convince the community why we actually should trust you guys again to make something.
Honestly looking forward to PE2 Don't pick a cowboy team if you plan to outsource anything. I think that's when it started going downhill with PE1
A lot of things are already there in terms of the technical side so unless there's new features your adding it should be smooth this time around. More time can be spent on improving the existing areas. Also can we please get full rez workshop icons hahaha. Blurry mess are just as bad as nothing at all.
Side note. Im guessing you will be going with the same iso format for ingame items. Will that mean PE1 creations will work in PE2? Or is it too early to tell?

SBT will have a direct impact on our experience with multiplayer and networking.
The offering for access to the alpha phase of PE2, Is intended to let you get a feel for the game and it's development progress without needing to spend more money on a risk. If you feel satisfied, then rather than telling you to buy the game at full price, we are offering you a discount on it. If people wish to use that time to give feedback and influence it's development, it is also there for them to do that, but it is not required.
I'm sorry that you feel our solutions are some form of snub towards our supporters, but that is not our intention. We just could not repair PE, so continuing to sell it did not seem like a reasonable thing to do, and we wanted to offer something to our supporters as well.
This is the result.
The small preview was to avoid bloating the ISO file size, which could be a problem if a server had a lot of ISO's on it. If there's a way we can have it upload an image to the workshop, without it also downloading that image to subscribers, then it would be ideal, but we'll have to research that area and see if that's possible. We just need to keep the filesize as small as possible.
It may be a bit too early to tell. I'm not entirely sure if we'll be using the exact same system, or if we adjust it. We'll look at the possibility of them being compatible though.
Even if PE1 iso's are not compatible things can be remade :) But yeah, Could scrap compatibility for the ability to actually see the thumbnail / icon :D
I'm quite pumped for it to tell you the truth. Cautiously excited :D
my time at portia alone has taken up quite a bit of my time. its an amazing game imo and had great support.
Your results are insufficient. Giving players that already purchased the game a coupon for the next game is a grave sign of your future negligent actions as game developers. Your poor actions sower distrust in the community.
You just likely ruined yourselves, not snubbing but thieving from your customers like this.
If you care for our future business you need to show signs that your business is worth risking our money. In which this circumstance a coupon shows your uncaring, only caring to the extent to evade losses on your part, not your customers. I myself, will not purchase any of your products what so ever.
I don’t have expectations to see you showing lasting signs that you will appropriately rectify how you used us as testers. Developers like you need to pay people to test your software. I’m not paying you to test your game.
If you use people like testers, pay us like testers.
Apparently you’ve learned nothing from this at present, and you advertise your other games on top of it.
