Undefended planets showing as "defended"
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if there are no ships, starbases or shipyards in a system, doesn't that mean that all planets in that system are undefended? Yet in my game, they do show up as defended.

What am I doing wrong here, are ground based defenses counted as "defense"?

Yes, ground defenses (missile batteries for example) would be considered as 'defense'. You will need to destroy them from orbit by attacking the planet.

But, I've been hitting the planet with my cruisers for for three turns, (20x per turn? unsure) now, and it keeps telling me its defended. Is there some way of specifically targetting said missile batteries?

If the planet stops firing back at you, it should be defenseless. Just make sure there are no alien ships near the orbit. If it still shows defended, can you send me your saved games and we will check. You can send it by using the 'report an issue' link from the launcher (exit game and relaunch), please include a description so we know it's you.

Just one more question: If there are two planets colonized in this system, and both have ground bases missile defenses, do I need to take them both down to be able to invade the one planet? Probably not, just wondering.

Also, unsure if this is important, but this planet I'm trying to invade is the homeworld of a species.

Another thing I'm having now: I can't leave said system. I get out of combat sure, but when I tell the fleet to move to another system, the enemy just opens fire at me when I click "turn" and my fleet doesn't leave...

Anyway, how do I send a saved game using that feature? Do I have to upload it somewhere and add a link?

The type of planet doesn't matter and neither should another defended colony nearby. Only if there are ships within visibility.

Right now ships automatically attack hostiles, interrupting move orders. We will be updating the game today and it should improve so that only after you get attacked will your ships stop and fight. We will be adding a retreat order in the near future as well.

You can send a report to us when you first launch the game, on the launcher there is a red link "Report an Issue", just click on that and leave a description so we know it's relating to this post. Thanks

I've realised now that the problem is that the enemy rebuilds their missile launchers in an instant immediatly after combat has ended... Because of this, they are also attacking me every turn before my fleet has a chance to move. So yeah, not really "having a blast" this time around.

We are looking into this. Thanks for the feedback!

I looked at your report including the saved game. Saw you had a task force of 9 ships at Varaia prime (Homeworld of the Varaians with a Missile Defense). Your ships didn't have enough fire power to destroy the Missile Defense platform on the planet.

The missile defense stops firing after 9 rounds (they run out of ammo for that turn) but you weren't destroying the defenses. If you hover over the planet you can see how many hit points it has before it is destroyed. They start with ~9999 hit points and repair 1000 per turn, so you need to do more damage.

Best to bring in some ships with lots of bombs so you can destroy the defenses.

All right, thanks for the info. I figured, since they stopped firing that the missile defense was destroyed. :/

A reasonable assumption. We will make a few changes there. Thanks for the feedback.

It's simple to destroy a colony, but so far impossible to invade the 'defended' ones because the colony is destroyed before the missile defenses. We can fly through space to other worlds and target tiny scouts and fighters; is there a way to aim at a missile base instead of at an entire PLANET?
Aranador 12 Feb 2014 @ 3:23pm
So far, I have found that unless the planet has several billion people, I will annihilate the planet population long before I am able to kill the missile battery. So invasion is seldom an option, and I usually dont bother trying for that reason.
Aranador 12 Feb 2014 @ 3:24pm
Perhaps, a missile base should not prevent an invasion, but should count as a 2x multiplier of the defender's strength to represent your own forces being blown out of the sky while they try to land ?

Being able to see the area within which you are blockading a planet and thus stopping them from instantly rebuilding their stations aswell as being able to manually invade during tactical combat (ie right after you destroy all the defences) would really help with this.
