METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE

METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE

Last boss is REALLY hard
I really love this game but I'm getting my ass handed to me by him. Even with my new red sword it seems like he can 3-4 shot kill me no problem. Seriously I have like 12 hours on this game and 5-6 has been trying to beat him.

My feeling's say one thing, but Armstrongs AOE attack and fast moves tell me it's bed time.
just spam block and attack the ♥♥♥♥ out of him. you gotta run away from most of his powerful attacks anyway.

Yah I have been trying to time the blocks. Today I got him down to 150 but failed the stuff he tossed at me. One step closer lol. The thing with the block though is that it kinda feels like it only works when it wants to, it's weird, unless I havn't really mastered it yet. Plus when trying to dodge his AOE attack I'm useualy in the middle of an attack so when I go to try to run my character is still in half animation.

You can tap blade-mode to cancel out of nearly any animation, or just use the dodge move which cancels nearly every move as well (exception being Stormbringer, which is a horrible move). Blocking simply requires practice and a bit of insight in how the camera might sometimes suddenly twirl.

Good luck!
I got wrecked just as hard by Armstrong. It was one of the greatest fights of my life.

When he starts throwing stuff at you, try moving Raiden's body a bit. You can get a much better angle on the cut that way.
biggest tip i can give is right at the start run at him activate ripper mode and light attack constantly, the moment he goes to pound the ground and send the shockwave out hit space and you will avoid the attack while continuing to attack then repeat if he slams the ground again and if he does not do a few heavy attacks then light attacks to stagger him. at this point he should be at 170% continue fighting and dodge his hits while parrying whenever you can. once you reach 160 he will do the throwing attack and if you master that part of the fight youve won essentially because afterwards its just rinse and repeat. always parry the attack where he charges his fist and runs at you because you can easily get a QTE that does around 35% of his health. other then that heal often avoid his hits and defeat him. good luck hes a pain in the ass but once you learn the fight its easy.
ps. hes a ♥♥♥♥♥ boss and really killed the flow of the game for me

How the hell did you get past Monsoon without knowing how to block perfectly ?
I just beat him 5 minutes ago, the key was figuring out how to cut through the metal stuff he throws at you because after that he drops a ton of nanopaste. When he throws it at you and you enter slow motion blade mode, you have to move your mouse in BIG circles in order to change your slicing angle PLUS you have to use AWSD to move around. If you get it right, you should have enough nano paste (4ish) to last you the rest of the fight so when he throws the metal at you again, you can just dodge it.

That was NOT an easy fight for me too. It was the first real part I had to learn how to go from blocking sometimes to blocking many times. Let's just say that that was another part that took me a little time on, but I didn't overshoot that fight with my total play time. It was hard but I beat him eventualy

You can cheese the rock throwing part by running AT Armstrong. You miss out on the Nano paste but usually *for me* the fight seems easier after the rock toss. The rock will look like it will hit you, and it will certainly hit you if you run anyway other than towards Armstrong but it works. If you picked up the Defensive Offense ability too (X+A) , you can use it to help dodge his *unblockable* moves as there is a few frames of invulnurabilty although the timing can be hard to do.:demoticon:

I never had a chance to fight him after the rock toss yet so I don't know if avoiding the rocks would be a good idea. I NEED that health knowing me lol. but I shall see where it goes!
I had the same problems, raced through the game having tons of fun, then i met Armstrong... 3 hours of my life i'll never get back. But i did it damnit!

No idea why, but i couldnt get through the rock phase for the life of me, i eventually just tried zerging him down as fast as possible just to get some practice in on the rock phase. Remember to parry his normal melee swings and run from his red/grab attacks (You can parry some of his grab attacks but its inconsistent and unreliable). If you're having trouble with the rock phase you don't have to line up the 4 point EXACTLY, it can work just below the line aswell. Try to trigger as many QTE's as possible, this will be your main source of damage.

Keep at it, felt so good when i killed that guy after struggling for 3 hours.
