Usually, games that cost 50 or 60$ worth much less in real value. This game however, is worth the 50 or 60$, I hope they don't make us pay 80 or 90 even at release
PS And yeah, I agree with OP about pricing in games. I was playing PC games since 1996, when they costed between 30 and 40 euros (the euro didn't exist by then, but it's more or less the equivalence) Of course, we also have to take into account the inflation of the economy, but I think the prices are growing far too fast than the economy itself. I wish the content also grew that fast, because in general, EA games, or any other known publisher usually add one or two cool mechanics to their games, and then set a high price for it

Nowadays, games + DLC require close to $70-80 for the "full package", and this kind of crap (from an INDIE GAME in ALPHA) will, if hugely succesful, give developers more incentive to charge higher prices.
They'll say, "Hmm, if THESE guys can do it, then so can we."
Why, because they SAID so? All you can go by is how things stand NOW. Who knows when release will be? Sure, they give estimates, but who knows? For all we know, this could stay in "Alpha" for 2 more years.
Minecraft was being played religiously LONG before its official release.
I recall paying around $80 for SNES games and $100 for N64 games.

The alpha alone costs $30, The beta alone costs $20, is it really ok to pay $30 for an ALPHA, look at the alpha footage on youtube and tell me youd want to pay $30 for that?
Also, this game IS RELEASED.
Don't kid yourself with this "get access now BS". If a game is up for $80 and you can pay for it then play it, it's freaking released. This new "fad" that minecraft (a great game, I'll admit) started is an excuse for modern-day developers to rake in the cash while using the excuse that anything bad with their game needs to be forgiven because it's "just" alpha.
Well, console games are playing in another league. They are usually expensive because a bunch of companies own that market. PC games are different, and usually cheaper

In the traditional sense of the word release, which is defined as follows: "To make known or available." This game is clearly released.
Let's use some actual objectivity here, shall we? You expect me to believe that a game that's for sale, playable, and overpriced, "Isn't out yet."
"Oh! You can't judge this game yet, because it's not even out yet! It's not been released yet. I mean, sure, you can pay $80 for it and play it and whatever, but it's not ... it's not out."
It is out. It is an incomplete game being sold for double what it's worth. That's the fact.
