[Spoilers] Good reputation

I gotta say this bugs me a lot:
At first I thought the good/bad reputation system was better polished... so I did some "bad" things in the prison(killed the dogs & drained some guards in the caves cause I thought nobody saw me) ... turns out that turned me "bad"... ever since I arrived in town, I´m doing everything I can to become "good"... but whatever the fudge I do... I just can´t get past "Neutral" anymore... this fudging sucks! :/

I wasn't paying attention and didn't know taking serum was bad, especially if you are taking it from enemies. All my dialogue options have been good but still taking serum which I never use, btw. I have tons. I'll have to do a replay as a good guy.

Could be wrong but i dont think its possible to get more than one reputation upgrade (or downgrade) per chapter, so if you went from bad to neutral in chapter 2, you'll prolly become good at the begining of chapter 3.

i have the same trouble as you, i kill only one guard to see what is earn (without even turning bad) and after i has done all the quest and dialogue in order to be the more good posible. i also get a lot of good coment by follower but i never became more then neutral...

Same with me. Went bad in the first part and could even with being good in the next two chapters not get above neutral. Well at least i am a Grey Jedi a pardon Technomancer now. ;)

haha, same has us i think. i ll retry the story without killing the only guard i did. Thank to my good habit to keep too much save file since final fantasy 7 XD. After this i will inform you , if it is a least possible to be good?

Of course it's possible to be good. I played through never sucking out anyone's soul and sparing lives whenever I could. Now I'm giving it another shot on extreme but can only bring myself to drain the ones who piss me off...lol

I drained a couple (like, 2) enemies and killed the coin serial killer and one other mission npc (in one of the charity missions). I don't know If I missed anything, but other than that I tried to choose the "best" path where available, still, that only got me "Good" reputation at the end of the game.

Yep, same here. i think it depends on things that might not be obvious.
Like the money escort for Charity, its not necessary (and not easy) to keep the courier alive until the goal, but if you do, theres an extra story option that might rack good or bad points (and a nice amount of serum)
Its hard to finish the mission with him alive but i think if you do, that also grants goodie points.
Also chosing to beat up or pay the pimp makes a huge difference.

The above are the only two things i did differently on my second playthrough and that got me the excellent rep in second chapter, first run i only got good.

killing the coin killer most likely sets back your reputation but even worse, you miss 12k exp in chapter 3.

I had excellent after getting the drug addicts out of the guy's shop and beating up the drug dealer as well as doing part of the main story after you get Mary. I wasn't able to do any of the other side quests because of the floating NPC bug. I did however go between areas several times beating up NPCs because I had nothing better to do until a patch was released to fix the bug.

I killed the Coin Killer in Chapter 2, beat up the pimp, beat up the guards instead of getting a false ID, beat up the drug dealer instead of intimate and accidentally siphoned serum from a dude and never lost Excellent; Hell I didn't even get a chance to get a fake ID for the bartender. I'm starting to think that maybe beating up mobs has a huge impact on reputation.

Revolucas is right.
I reached second chapter being all goodie good and my reputation was neutral.
I was still neutral when i contacted the barman for id at the Tierville entrance.
Then i go and beat up the two guards at the Tierville entrance and lo and behold my reputation is good.
This game needs some fixes looks like, because this is totally wrong.
Looks like the best way to get reputation is start fights with the guards that you can dialogue with.....this is total nonsense.

Hey guys, I didn't know at first that if you extract the serum from defeated enemies that you would get a bad reputation from it. I wanted to be a good guy and acted like that all the time, but now I'm in chapter two and have an overall bad reputation from that, so what could I do? Does anyone know a way to change the reputation value in the game files or something? The only trainer I've found doesn't alter the reputation. I wouldn't usually "cheat", but my free time is too limited to replay everything again, and this wouldn't have happened if I knew about the serum thing. I hope somebody could help me.

If you do all good choices for all the remainer of the game you should be able to recover. I spent 75% of the game at netural despite making good choices. I got the false papers but I had already meet the guards and so they fought me every time I went through. However, with all the health and shield upgrades everyone was just someone else to loot and hide.
