I'm of the opinion that having a sale on a game still in development is a bit of a dickery. So even though we sell next to nothing at the moment we'll wait until the game is done.
Well after coming to steam for what, 10 month? and still no sale, that doesn't help your sale either. And all other early access games do it... and believe me, I really wouldn't find it a ♥♥♥♥ move if it went on a sale ;)
I am not sure I can follow this logic; it's ok to sell a game still in development at the current price, but it's not ok to sell it at a sale price?

The decisions you make on pricing are just difficult to follow from the current price to the lack of sale prices.

Just put it up for $9.99 and see what happens. Undoubedly some who will buy it will come here to ♥♥♥♥♥ about something not working right, but that's Early Access for you.
I think the developers should defer to their business model and the high level talks they have with steam itself rather than rely on anecdotal thoughts from gamers. "all other early access games do it" I am sure some do. but some do not. I already own the game it rocks. totally worth 25 bucks. that said, would I have preferred to have lucked into a sale? heck ya! that would have been cool. if vince and the team decide a sale is a good idea...that is up to them. I doubt it would be a $9.99 sale. that is 60% off.

Valve has trained customers to wait for 75% or even deeper discounts. 60% off is generous from that perspective. Customers have approximately 4,589 other games in their backlog so they can afford to wait till this title hits $5, and if it never will then there are still the 4,589 other games to play.

Steam's sales are a goldmine for developers as the exposure you get is well worth any discount. So, it's not like we don't want to discount because we're afraid to lose some money. Rather we're willing to lose money by not discounting to honor the deal we made with those who bought the game at full price.

There is a difference between buying a game and then discovering that it went on sale. It was your choice and you did get to play it when you wanted, which justifies the higher price.

It's different with early access because the game hasn't been released yet. So someone who paid $25 in good faith in advance would feel cheated if the game goes on sale just to make more money for the developers.

We'll do a sale a few months after the game is released and then gladly participate in every Steam sale.

Vince, I think you have honored those who bought the game at full price enough, as 7, 8 month have passed after coming to steam. Its time to honor those brave loyal souls who have patiently waited, biding their time, faithfully fought their hunger longing for a sale all this time xD
Yeah, was going to buy on the summer sale. Guess i'll wait a bit longer.
I bought it early access because I wanted to help AOD come along and support it which is IMO the point of early access. Putting it on sale during one of the biggest game sales of the year is in line with that goal for me.
Its one of the few early access games that's really worth it (at least as far as great content that you get right away). Send the devs your love and get it now its a great game as well as challenging.

I very strongly agree with this statement (unless the sale is less a sale and more a discount for early supporters, like Lichdom) almost to the degree of buying the game right now.

Almost. Gonna check up the forums again, then decide.

I'd suggest trying to the demo first, just to be sure.
I've r.a.p.e.d the demo :D

Just finished fiddling with it, actually. Will probbaly be picking up the game later this weekend some morning after I get home from work. Liked what I saw, seems like the sort of text-heavy RPG I enjoy more about role-playing than roll-playing.
Gotta respect a developer standing on principles and not trying to cash in early and screwing over early adopters. Probably the thing that's annoyed me most about early access has been seeing the high discount levels trying just to get maximum money in early, often in a semi-misleading manner, which encourages severe moral hazard. Seeing the money that can be made from a slapped-together game with vague promises and a big paper discount just encourages scammers to knock something quick together.

Anyway, am keeping an eye on for when this game is finished, as it sounds really interesting from what I've heard over the last few years!
