Current discussion about the game (updated)
Ok so I've seen a lot of people bring up many different topics here and a lot of the responses are from people who either don't understand what they're talking about, half understand it, or fully understand. And to be honest, it's getting quite annoying when I see people hating on others when they actually have no clue what they're talking about. In other words, welcome to the "community" the developers created...

Here I will be talking about several different, highly disputed topics.

1) Punkbuster and hackers

Ok so Punkbuster was recently introduced to help combat the hacker problem in the game. For those who didn't know, ever since the game was released back in December (and quite possibly earlier) it has been plagued with hackers. FairFight just didn't cut it. The only times we could play was the patch day and maybe a few days after. Eventually it just became patch day.

We heard Punkbuster was to be implemented and a lot of people were extremely happy, and why wouldn't they be? A decent anti-cheat was coming.

a) Hackers: Now there are a lot of people saying they're still running into hackers on a daily basis and roughly the same amount of people are saying that there are no hackers.

Let me stop somewhere in the middle here. There will ALWAYS be hackers, regardless of what anti-cheat you have. This is a known fact, so don't dispute it.

For those who run into hackers, let me just say that you're incredibly unlucky, although it isn't surprising since people are starting to find the loopholes in PB and exploit them.

For those who say hackers don't exist, get a grip. Sure, YOU haven't run into a hacker... YET. It just hasn't happened yet and will happen at some stage, then you will start complaining like those you are hating on. Hackers are around, just consider yourself lucky enough to NOT be running into them.

b) Punkbuster (problems): Since the implementation of Punkbuster people have experienced a lot of problems from random disconnects, weird bans that last for random amounts of time, crashes, etc. In my opinion, Punkbuster has simply brought more problems to the table, in exchange for removing a good percentage of the hackers.

2) Marketplace- pay to win

Now there has been a lot of talk about the marketplace, and it's pay to win style. This is a yes AND no situation.

To me, it is pay to win for those who USE the marketplace. You're paying for items that can give you an advantage, therefore it is pay to win. This can be countered with the fact that you will lose all items upon death to various things ranging from crashes, bugged/glitched/lagged zombies, hackers, spawn campers, etc.

On the flip side, it isn't pay to win. Why? Because you don't have to use the marketplace at all. Nothing forces you to use it. The only reason people use the marketplace is because they are too lazy to play the game properly and want everything straight away (with the exclusion of guns), and they don't mind paying some cash for it.

It is as simple as that.

3) Day Z vs Day Z Standalone

Now I know this doesn't relate to Infestation at all. But I feel it needs to be discussed, even briefly.

A lot of people are saying things like "Don't buy Infestation, wait for Day Z Standalone" and are getting responses like "Day Z Standalone is full of bugs and glitches and won't be any good".

Let me be the first to say that no one can know what the standalone will even be like, because they haven't played it. Why make an assumption about a game that you've never played? What evidence is there to suggest that it will be just as bad as its predecessor? Nothing.

I'd love to put this whole debate to rest....

4) Private servers and low pop public servers

A fair few people are complaining about being killed by hackers or other players who KOS. The common response to this is "Go play on private servers or on a low pop server if you're sick of dying to hackers, etc."

Whilst this does help those people, it shouldn't really be necessary. The game is advertised and sold as an MMO. So why are we playing on private servers to begin with? It just defeats the purpose of the style of game we're playing. Granted, the map isn't big enough to house an MMO style of play but that isn't really the point.

As for low pop servers, it's the same deal. Why are there so many servers to begin with? Why not just have a few big servers so we can all play together? And I know, the map isn't big enough... but who's fault is that? You guessed right.

I'm just personally tired of seeing people suggest that others play on private servers or low pop servers because it is the only way you can play the game fairly...

5) The super mutant zombie

Now talk about a classic. This debate has been going since the beginning of time. Want the answer?

NO, it DOESN'T exist. How do I know? Look at all the cover ups the developers did the first time they said someone killed it... look at the fact that even the developers can't provide video proof of its existence.

If a developer says something is in the game, you'd think they'd have proof of it. Well these guys don't, therefore it doesn't exist. I don't care what Kewk said on a live stream. Have you heard what this guy has said in the past? What makes you think I'll believe him now? Nothing.

6) War Z vs World War Z

We all know the name of the game was recently changed to Infestation: Survivor Stories. But what a lot of people don't seem to realise is, it isn't to trick people into buying the game, but rather because War Z breached copyright laws.

In short, World War Z came first. They were well within their rights to make them change their name.

7) General problems

Ok so I've seen some people going around to those who are having technical problems with the game and saying "Everything is fine on my end, it must be your computer" and such.

For the most part, this isn't true. Whilst there are some people who are having problems with their computers and it IS due to their PC, a lot of people are having trouble because the game is so poorly optimised for those with low-end PC's.

Now HP continue to increase the minimum system requirements, forcing people with low end PC's to either upgrade or quit. This is wrong and should not be allowed. They stated that the game can run on "x" computer with "y" system requirements in the beginning and they should be optimising the game to allow those people to keep playing.

8) The developers

I've been asked to put as much as I can on the developers, and their poor business practices.

So let's start from the start shall we? Back in alpha or so they allowed people to make pre-orders for up to $80. Depending on the amount you paid, you would receive up to 6 months free stronghold hosting, amongst other things.

The developers advertised all this great content like skills, clans, friends, hardcore mode, stronghold servers, etc. and people were really excited to use them because they genuinely thought that the comany would deliver. Well when the game was released we saw NOTHING of what was advertised. People were aggrovated and raging left right and centre because there were so many things advertised that just weren't in the game. In fact, the only feature that was in the game at release was clans, and it wasn't even finished. Eventually valve pulled the game from steam due to huge amounts of false advertising.

Next we have the "apology" letter from Sergey which essentially stated how we, the consumers, misread the information provided. He also stated this in several different interviews as well. So pretty much, everything he said at the time was, and still is, an insult to those of us who were around for it all.

At this point the game is considered a complete scam due to the fact that nothing has been released in the game at all. Everything is bugged, glitched or just plain not in the game. And anything that is in the game is not even finished. I.E clans.

Next we have WarZ being put back on steam, with amendments to its advertisement. Yet, there are still several things that are false on the page, these include, but are not limited to:
- Hardcore mode is not available, yet advertised as being so
- As many as 12 screenshots show animations and character skins that are not available in the game
- The whole "no level cap, no skills, etc" is false as there is a skill tree that can provide a slight advantage over other players

That is just off the top of my head. There are many more, as pointed out in other posts.

To be honest there is so much that is just wrong about them that I seriously cannot sit here and keep typing it. If you want a more detailed analysis, I will edit the thread again, but only if enough people ask for it.

This is an updated discussion that I made some weeks ago and would like to bring it back to light and see what people can discuss about it.

TL:DR: Sorry, but this is a thread I can't shorten. You want to know what I said, read it. I didn't spend my time writing this to provide a summary at the end.

wait didnt you or someone else post this very same thread the other day...

ive helped a good number of people both here and in private chat and i can say with near 100% certainty that once they cleanup the mess they have on their computers the game runs great.

the game is not at fault of pb is not properly installed, updated and running and neither if steam installer failed and neither if directx or c/c++ runtime are not properly installed or corrupt. or if their windows or file system is corrupt or even if they bought the game and are trying it to run it on a box that never met any minimum specification, not the current ones and not any past ones as well. and the game will certainly not run if their boxes are full of malware and viruses or worse. which you do run into many people that are not computer literate that think a pc is like an xbox and just buy a game and expect it to work. well many times things work out great. but if you check any number of steam forums you know there are a good number of people with any game in these forums with real issues not related at all to the game. many people have their computer full of garbage they download and install from the web much of it malware or worse. many people have trainers and aimbots, ect that they get for one game and that continue to run or be resident long after they stop playing that game, but forget to uninstall or uninstall really does not uninstall and these so called free things are nothing but backdoor to worse stuff being installed on their boxes and when they run like malwarebytes it comes up with good list of problems which tke hours to help them cleanup... ive seen it all, but rarely have i seen a game that is fully the problem. normally after hours of helping them you often are able to clean up all the mess they created and finally the game runs. surprise. ... people need to learn a pc is not an xbox... u r the administrator and watch what you install. cause delete is often not delete with much of the crapware....

since you are always around and appear to be a very nice person perhaps you may want to take a handful of members and help them out to resolve their issues and then update your future repost with... dont forget to add the stuff i just posted about. ;) also link to pbsvc.exe and pbsetup.exe and instructions for how to use it. and about running directx setup and how to download and install c/c++ runtimes and how to do windows update and how to update their drivers... you know that kind of stuff that would help someone resolve their problems. oh and how to find out what kind of hardwre they have and what os and how to verify the hardware is working correctly and how to check the os and drives for corruption...

I'm not a techie. But I can say that most of those solutions can be found on the main forums. People just don't know how to research sadly.

I'm merely here to inform people of the horrible business practices of the developers and to avoid them at all costs.

So you mean to tell me after this game was kick off steam because they lied to this community its back again with a different name?

It's been back for almost 6 months now. They changed the name not long ago due to copyright issues.

oh my, well then can you please enumerate the most aggrecious of the horrible business practices of the developers so people like myself who may be unfamilar with them can become better informed...

I will be adding them to the post shortly.

Were you not here from day 1? Or thought I saw you post that you've been here since alpha. If you have, then you should already know what they've been doing, and continue to do

That post was made back in mid February. It's still relevant but is buried deep within these forums.

So I made another one which was also buried and now have reposted that same one with some updated information

i read through your whole list, every word of it and except for pb which is working like a champ to keep the hacker sout its like over 6 months old... things like strong hold server is about the only thing i found to still be open. the rest all closed and resolved long ago and other things like having a skill tree is because a good number of customers like myself wanted it in. ok so its a small indie company that takes a long time to do things. we will waiting for california map which is slowly moving along and they finally have us something like pb which many people wanted to keep out the hackers, which its doing. i still dont see any signs in hacking sites including hacks development sites where anyone has a solution to pb... which is a good thing. so far its we need more time to figure it out and all our hacks are being detected... which is a good thing. but u can search the web youself if u find someone who has something that gets in simply forward the link to pb i bet they want to add a new definition to their list not only for this game but for all other game games as well.
