War Z 15$ gone?

So I was conidering checking this out, to see if what all the controversy is about (5 months late), until the regular editon was removed. Where did it go?

Same here. Went on page to go buy it, now it's removed. Not buying it at $25 that's for sure.

well now I'm deterred not to buy this game. Ironic that I thought they had some anticheat layed out.

I would still buy it if it went back down to $15. Having it at $25 is more of a reason to buy DayZ instead of this, considering this game has a fairly bad rep as it is.

Well, I did some research, and it shows that the 15$ version of WarZ has been taken down since May 16th, and just recently came into effect today on Steam. It's purpose is to "stall or deter hacking until Punkbuster is implimented." And also prevent willing consumers from getting the game. It doesn't prevent hacking, as they directly attacked in April and the amount of keygens that exist for this game, so hackers get in free. That's all the info provided right now.

Yes, that's true, but as a wary consumer, I'd rather buy the 15$ and then later down the road, maybe fold and buy some GCs. And since all the gameplay I've watched wasn't too recent, I don't know if the GC's are worth it.

you spend $25 and get $25 worth of GC, and the game.
You can't buy the game without buying GC.
If that isn't just made it into a free to play game with a cash shop, then its not far off.
Everything about this game revolves around the cash shop.

I'd be surprised if the base package (game only) ever comes back, except in a steam sale or when the game is so much on its last legs that they have run out of people who will happily buy the game to put $25 worth of real money into their cash shop up front.

The GCs arguably are not worth it. the only thing I spent my GCs on was paying towards a shared server rental, not in-game gear.

Its likely that hammerpoint have realised not as many people use GC to buy rubbish items in the shop, so they force them to get GC when they buy the game and removed the base game purchase option.

It also discourages the purchase of the game by onlookers. "Why buy the game with GC's for 25$, and why isn't there a standard edition?" Someone might think, a newer person to PC. I, and maybe others, want to play the game as it's meant to be, as a survival horror game. They also are installing an anticheat, so hopefully the 15$ edition will be back.
