Sacred 2 Gold
Works on Windows 8 x64
I had to use troubleshoot compadibility and use the suggested settings to get it to work and ((( Shazzam ))) it works! Support this awesome RPG, it is one of the best ever made. Be sure to check out how many hours of gameplay this complete game has it will blow you away, it is one of the most satisfying and longest RPG's of all time. The graphics are outstanding and mine is running at 1920 x 1080 with no problems. They need our support and they deserve it for making such a quality game. I went out of my way to pay the full price of $19.99 to help them out instead of waiting for the price to come down some day. We need more games like this to make life a little better. I can't wait for Sacred 3 to come out, I will support it also. These guys are pros & know how to make a awesome RPG. I wish them all of the best. "RPG's Rule"

Yes I'll support them but not going to blow 20 bucks for 10 years old game. >.>

I'll wait until next sale.
Are you talking about Sacred 2, it was released November 11 2008 on PC. That makes it 4 years old. Come on now, be fair.
Must be thinking of Sacred 1....not 2.
Yes, this game runs great on my Win8 x64 Pro without any problem. My original retail version can never run under W8 even with the compatibility mode on.
That's good to hear Greeny2011, It's not just my system. It is an awesome game I have played for a long time. I don't play online, I'm a lone ranger and it is very relaxing to me. I always have the latest system and I really missed being able to play Sacred 2, ((( Come on Sacred 3 ))) we love it.

PS: I had a feeling you thought it was Sacred 1 Siddha, that has happened to me in the past also, I understand the confusion. Best wishes!
For those who are not aware, Windows 8 is very special for gamers. In memory of a recently departed staff member they made it compatable with just about every game out there. That's why you are seeing the rebirth of a lot of old PC games in HD. Thank you Microsoft! What an awesome thing to do. I have been able to install almost every old game I have for the first time ever. ((( Windows 8 Rocks ))). Everyone is happy and so is the gaming industry. Don't listen to greedy people, they will leed you down the road to rune and all will suffer. What a wake up call. Everybody benefits.

Hi johnhalsell
It was not me mistaking the game for Sacred 1.
I was referring to the post above by zeroxxx who seems to think S2 is 10 years old.
Thanks for the backup Siddha, I apprecaite it. The way your comment was worded I just assumed, my mistake. I guess we all have our shortcomings. God Bless!
I'm glad to hear about Windows 8. I'm still on XP.....but the time is drawing nearer when I will have to upgrade; so I am pleased to hear your report about W8.
It works much better for Gaming than any other system out there. There is a little learning curve at first but once you get past that it is the best windows ever for gaming. I can't get Sacred 1 to work on it though for some reason. Maybe Steame will fix that one also. There are very few games that will not work, but compared to Vista and W7 it is a dream come true. I would say 98% of the old XP games might work. I have around 150 RPG games and only 2 don't work and Sacred 1 is 1 of them. The learning curve is a little frustrating at first but just hang in there and you will not be sorry. Best Wisses!
Working fine here with W8 x64 as well.
Considering all the problems i had getting S1 to work, I'll wait till S2 becomes dirt cheap before buying it. If it works for me, the current price is probably worth it, but again, S1 was a waste of money, and I've learned my lesson.
Did you get S1 to work on Windows 8 or another OS Johnny_m_j?
Win 8. 64 Bit, Professional. Sacred 2 gets Mss32.dll errors, and while running in Win XP SP3 compatability mode got a Kernelbase.dll error and crashed. In multiplayer the game runs fine with minor audio glitches at times, but when teleporting or changing areas the game freezes after playing for around 10 - 20 minutes, where it should show you a loading screen, and does not.

Also because Windows 8 is so fantastic pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete to bring up the task manager takes around 10 - 15 seconds for it to finally show itself, and in many crash scenarios it is impossible to get the task manager to take dominance over the foreground window (in this case Sacred 2), which means even though you've brought up the task manager it is impossible to close Sacred 2.

HOORAY! I'm experiencing the same problems on this OS as I have on Windows 7 64 Bit. That might be because the two OSes fundamentally the same right down to their core file structure and functionality.

In fact, the Kernelbase.dll error stems from Windows 8's new middleman compatability mode, also known as Compatability Mode for the old Compatability Mode, which runs the requests through that specific .dll. So in that way, they'd just piled another problem on top.

I'm going to insist that no only does the right combination of software make this game run or crash, different combinations of hardware do as well. Given this is the only game on my PC in the last 10 years that has refused to run properly even after tweaking, I can only hope now that Deep Silver has acquired the brand we may see them finally making it work.

I bought the original S2, I bought Ice & Blood from a UK retailer to get it working in the first place only to suffer bad slowdowns and crashes, and then I took the leap and bought Sacred 2 Gold only to find it doesn't, in fact, work better than anything I've tried before, down to command line additions, .ini tweaks, different permutations of software and drivers, reinstalls of various OSes. The one thing I can be sure of - the surefire way the game works is when I downgrade my PC to a 32 bit XP installation, just like it did in the old days, and that's just disappointing.
Hi Firespite. My first question is did you get your copy of S2 from Steam or somewhere else? My other questions are, are you using a laptop or desktop? Do you use a boot time defrag like Perfect Disk to defragment your page files after crashes? If not have you ever set your page file size to a low starting size at reboot to start with new clean page files? Do you do regular thorough scan disk and defrags? My last question is what kind of hardware do you have. Best wishes!
