Performance Problems Level 3-4 Temple of Doomdidoom

I am having major performance issues map 3-4. Anyone else having this or can confirm this isnt just my system? The only reason I asking & mentioning is cause the rest of the game played fine. One would expect that all maps would have about the same system requirements.

I was able to play the whole game in highest quality without problems. Now that I finally ( after much struggling due to my noobishness ) got this far I don't wanna give up. But this level, even when not on full detail is maxing out my GPU. Even with vsync turned on it maxes out my 470GTX and has graphically lag like crazy ( unplayable ). With vsync turned off it maxes out my GPU as well, but its fluent. The only problem is that if my GPU runs at 100% constantly for 15 minutes or longer I have the risk of overheating ( not blaming game for this ).

I think I could pause the game every few checkpoint. Even though the game still uses GPU intensively while idle ( 85-100% ), the space is enough to cool my GPU down I think.

So can anyone confirm or dismiss my experience as being my own or being in the game?

I just had the game paused and alt-tabbed out while I was checking messages, and the fans just started roaring until I alt-tabbed back in.

Not the same level you mentioned, but weird nonetheless.

I had no performance issue with any level except for a very specific part at the end of the very last level.

I have been able to get the usage down. While trying last time and fiddling in my nvidia control panel ( setting it to performance settings blindly ) I had unwillingly set the vsync to "forced off" ofc. Forgot about that bit. So with vsync on i get 60fps fluently in low settings. High settings the map is still unplayable though unlike the maps before. Unless it has to do with the latest patch.

As a bonus, I also found out that if the game doesn't run perfectly smooth it has control issues. I just flew past 3-4 as if I already knew the map almost everything I did went right unlike usually where i gotta do sections 40 times a piece ..

but I am happy I can play it again and can at least attempt to finish the game without having to break in between to cool down my GPU. :D

Strange. I've actually reached this map as of last night and played through it and noticed no performance issues or problems while playing the map and I'm only running an older AMD HD4830 video card.
