THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIII is it like tekken or street fighter?
I'm an avid Tekken player I really enjoy the complex gameplay I'm not a huge fan of the Street Fighter series of games due to the easy to spam gameplay. So what I was wondering is would I like this game or is it a lot like Street Fighter.

It is a lot like street fighter. 2d and it has a higher difficulty in performing well timed combos.
Thanks I know its art style I was more concerned with the combat/gameplay because like I said I like complexity and lots of combos.

It's definitely complex and has lots of combos, but it is easy to spam as well.

When you're playing against somebody who spams alot, you just have to be very patient. It's not always a pleasant experience, because many people don't know how to play this game, and so they just spam.
Spam what? There's a ton of universal options to get around fireballs, as well a bunch of character specific ones. The only moves I can really think of as spammable would be things like Karate's palm (at certain ranges to build meter), Hwa's backdash qcb+B (again, to build meter) or Benimaru's backdash qcf+C. Otherwise, spamming anything is probably going to have poor results.

Thanks for all the help guys I think I'll get this game it looks super fun all constructive information was helpful. I was wondering if anyone has played persona 4 or blaze blue and knows what they are like.
Thanks.
Blazblue and Persona are both very similar and are in the anime genre of fighting games, which includes Guilty Gear. The action is typically fast paced and include more depth in terms of ways to block and additional types of meters.

Dustloop.com is probably the best place if you want to learn an anime fighter.

All three are definitely fun, but they are less popular than Street Fighter so you may have to look farther away for a group that plays it.
