Does anyone even run from the dogs?
They are easy to kill and in my opinion the game is too easy because of the fact that you get weapons and dynamite. In Penumbra Black Plague you can kill monsters but it is harder because you don't get weapons, you have to throw stuff at them. In hard mode you can't kill them at all.

The dogs killed the atmosphere for me. The first one was scary, but after that they were just annoying and in the way. I killed all of them.

I just crouch on the large crates, and swing at them with a pickaxe. Otherwise, I keep dying!

The dogs were never scary. They were probably added in as a Resident Evil reference. The other monsters are quite a bit scarier.
