[Needed] Game Porting Roadmap
Obviously the port to some games will be up to the devs who created the game. But, there are also games created by, you know, Valve themselves.

What I would really like to see is a "roadmap" (best way to describe it I could think of) started for those games that have been marked by their devs as in progress to be ported over to Linux. Or such things as, "thinking about it" "will be starting after XXXXX game" etc. If Valve could work with the other devs in a simple question of "are you going to port"? that would be awesome too.

As a long time Linux enthusiast/administrator I am extremely excited about what is happening here. But, I feel at a complete loss on where things are going with this new client. I don't know for sure if any of my favorite games are being ported over etc. All I really have atm is just TF2 from my current list.

The other benefit to a gathering / "Roadmap" of porting stages I think will start to drive further interest in actually using the Linux client of Steam. Because, right now if someone takes a look at all their current games and for most users it will only be TF2 listed, they won't see any point to even using the Linux client.
I feel that the Linux client needs more publicity =D

I apologize if this is actually something already done or been asked etc. It is just that I have been dealing with "wine" for so long now and the only reason I have a Windows install is just so that I can play my Steam games.

If it came down to it I would be willing to even try to maintain such a roadmap keeping it publicly available. (although I would have to figure out the best way to even contact the massive amount of devs on Steam).

Idk, that is just my opinion. Let me know what you guys think.

i understand your wish. on the otherside i think its just to early for any serious roadmaps of future native supported games. that would be a huge step. remember were still at an early part of the beta.

Right now the linux client hasn't even been released yet.

They tested it on Ubuntu and only since 2 weeks? have other distro's try it too.

I am very happy how well it works already, but they need to iron out some things first.
When TF2 is working without any issues, they are probably gonna release steam.

Then they might have an idea on how long it wil take them to port other games too.

The fact Valve had LFD2 running faster on Linux then on Windows, does noet mean its ready to be shipped to us.

Agreed, it does seem a bit early for that.
However, it would be nice to have something similar for games that already have Linux versions that are not yet avilable on Steam.
