Unplayable at high resolution
I see a number of existing threads regarding graphics problems with this game, but none of them seem to be quite the same as what I'm experiencing. The graphics LOOK just fine for me, it's performance that's the problem. If I set it to 1920x1080, my screen's max resolution, the game is so choppy it's basically unplayable, even if I turn the quality down to "low". But if I drop the res down to 1280x720, I see a drastic improvement, even at "ultra quality". My system should be able to handle this, it's an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, with 6 gigs of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce GT 610, running Windows 10. Any tips or suggestions?

Are you running dual monitors? That card is not that powerful and with 1 gig of memory it may be swapping video to main memory at 1080P. Just a guess. I know back when I had a card with that memory I could not run ultra at 1080P but that was a slower machine too.

Nope, just one monitor. Thanks for the suggestion though. I dunno, I guess my system just can't handle this game at the highest specs, even though it's over 10 years old. Even at 720 it's pretty choppy in spots, but still playable. I suppose I just have to deal with it.

I had a 610 before my 750Ti currently installed. I would have thought it would get at least 45fps on Ultra at 1080p but I have the same issue as well, except a 750Ti is far superior so I have no idea why I'm getting just below 30fps. There's something wrong it seems.

the reason is is that your system is not strong enough and is in a dire need of improvement

the gt 610 is NOT a gaming card and is made for very light graphic and office work

that cpu is also very old

also the 750 ti is almost 900% more powerful than the 610 but it is still mostly a 720p card

You are probably exceeding your monitors ability. your monitor has a refresh rate if it is exceeded you game will be ♥♥♥♥.
Disable Vsync also it doesnt work well in quake.

I have seen lesser rigs work. I have i7, GTX 980 4gig on board, 16 gig system ram and with sync every frame it makes the game run ♥♥♥♥♥♥. As I stated this has been an issue since MW2. It may be an Nvidia thing but thats been a pain (Sync every frame) forever. Also it cant hurt to disable it and try.

You'll have to create a autoexec.cfg with a handful of commands to fix all the problems for single player and vanilla multiplayer (Q4 Max fixed it for MP). Just make sure all your settings are exactly how you want them before you do it. Otherwise it'll make the autoexec.cfg moot for whatever reason.

Make sure you've got multi-core rendering enabled

I'm having the same problem, the game looks fine, but the frame rate is so low it's like I'm watching a power point slide show. I have an i7 4790K GTX 970 and 16 GB RAM.

What should I edit in the autoexec.cfg?

@OP your graphicscard can´t handle games (at least not games like this), since it was never meant to be used for games to begin with...

How much on board (Video card not allocated from system)Video Ram do you have?

How do you figure it wasnt ment to play games. It is better than most cards in its class for gaming.

it was meant for use in office pc and the 660 and 680 were for games when i recall that right. cards with a 50 or lower in it were/are low-end entrance/office cards. what do you mean with "in its class"? compared to the rest of the 600 series, the 610 is definitely at the lower end...

anyway, you really need to get an upgrade.
Alexalmighty502 Dec 28, 2016 @ 6:54am
X40 or lower is ment for office pcs they are meant for very light office work and simple 3d models

the 610 is the lowest of the low and is 92% slower than the intergrated graphics in haswell cpus (pentium g3258, i5 4690k, i7 4790k ex)

and the intergrated graphics are slow for example i have 2 gtx 970s 1 gtx 970 is ~1434% faster than the igpu and ~2845% faster than the gt 610 the gtx 970 is outdated and only medium high end
