This fantastic game is the mother of all modern Open World games with a great story. Copied many times, but never reached. But today I have to advise against it just because of Ubisoft's politic against us gamers. You know, "buying is not owning, b....es".

Don't support Ubisoft.

They improved on everything since 2. I was not sure about the direction they were taking the game, but now, I can finally see that they were on the right track since leaving their roots.

The ambient is great, the story is NOT as smart as in Far Cry 2, but they've heavily improved on it by making it more personal, giving you stakes, a story, an objective, and motivation. It makes more sense to make better characters get involved in a relatively smaller plot.

The economy has been revamped, which is a shame. One of the things I liked from 2 was how you didn't need to loot all enemies because "every little helps", but you only picked tokens by exploring the island. Here, you get free weapons for liberating zones, which makes most of the economy a bit pointless, since the really useful things are crafted by hunting (which is a positive), so there's not that big of an incentive to explore the huge map to get all the goodies; the main currency is experience, and while its hard to come at first, you get littered with it at the end.

Weapons feel nice, there's good variety, and plenty of choices whether you want to blow thing up or go stealth mode. Stealth is obviously superior, but the game WILL force you to go gung-ho sometimes, and if you're not prepared for it, things will get ugly first.

There are some Quick Time Events, which I'm not crazy about. This game gets grandfathered in, as I understand, so it gets a pass, but there's a particular scene were, if you don't press W (No prompt of this is given) while mashing space, you automatically lose. Were the programmers being quirky? Was it a mistake? QTE are annoying as it is, if you want the player to input the right stuff, please, tell them what to press!

I'm late to the party, but I can finally see what all the memes are about. Should have played this one a long time ago. I've heard I'm close the the peak of Far Cry, that the next two entries are amazing, and the ones after are a bit on the weak side. Let's see.
