Why the long respawn times?
I love this game, but code-wise I do not understand why it has to re-load the entire level JUST to respawn you.
Cant they just reset entity positions and remove all the ragdolls/gibs then place you somewhere else?

Also this happens in Portal and Portal 2, so this isnt HL specific.

That's probably the only way to reset entity states. In Half-Life 2, once an enemy knows where you're at, they always know where you're at and track you down. This includes if you teleport somewhere.

The version of source that hl2 was made on was a tad older and more limited. Im sure you could fix this if you ported it to l4d's engine version.
