Maybe sometime in a future expansion they will add more item types.
Also, most of the "magical" power is actually interdimensional energies, torn through space and time(Aether energies). That is why it is very unstabile and "crude" compared to the refined magics of other fantasy settings(also part of the reason why we even have a Grim Dawn).
Atleast that is my take on it. :D
Another way to look at it:
If they were to include staves, you would have to ask yourself, what their "role" would be.
Foci and other such talismans are pretty much "mainstay" for most full caster builds due to the high energy regen and Cooldown reduction.
A Staff would need to offer something unique that no other item currently provide, since they will be competing with the foci.
Personally, I would rather have lances and other polearm weaponry before staves. ;)
No, there aren't. there are scepters with wand in the title, but not wands.
I have one [wand] in my inventory so there are wands in the game I have put a screen shot on my steam page.
I'm pretty sure that's still a scepter not a wand
They're not really wands, but I suppose they can be whatever you want to believe they are, which was kinda sorta the intention, so they made a graphic that isn't really a wand, slapped "wand" in the title and viola! presto... there's your wand *snickers* :)
I remember when they added them. I understood what was really up the moment I saw them, buuut I guess not everyone caught on as quickly. However, I had the advantage of seeing discussions over such things leading up to the inclusion of "wands", so I wasn't particularly surprised.
So if the "purists" want them to be wands, let em be wands, I won't mind and whatever lets them sleep easier at night.
So they are caster based but the wand itself doesn't have a ranged projectile attack because magic in GD come from the caster, not the caster weapon.
Implements and Foci (caster weapons/offhands) are meant to enhance spell based skills.
But I don't know the game mechanics enough to know how their bonus' add to dps. But going by the in game tool tip they don't do very good dps.
The wands and daggers, if you look, don't do physical damage. Instead they roll a random flat damage number for fire, ice, lightning.. etc. If it's a yellow it will also often have +% damage number for fire, ice, lightning etc.
If you are a ranged caster the +% roll is the one you are most interested in. A melee type caster... both numbers will be of interest to you. Combine that with the right components and offhands and other gear and maximize your skills and either/or can be quite potent.
