Couldn't initialize graphics engine
Hello there,

I'm having issues running Grim Dawn on my laptop, I only get black window with the abovementioned error message. I have read your FAQ and tried the following steps:

- Installing newest graphics drivers
- manually running every installer in the game's _CommonRedist folder
- running repair.exe in the game folder
- running the game without Steam
- creating a game profile for my AMD switchable graphics manually

Every time I end up with the same error. My graphics are Intel HD 3000 with AMD Radeon 7570M. I searched your official forums but there was no solution to this problem. I have read multiple users stating that Grim Dawn cannot detect switchable graphics and even if players were able to force the game to run on the performance GPU, the game would still show as running on the Intel GPU.

Any solutions?

try running as admin? Just something odd that sometimes works on games for me hah.. Im looking at the grim dawn forums to see if anyone had any similar issues as this
I did read this.,., Check your firewall. When ever a new patch or build happens, Norton's does not trust Grim Dawn and blocks it causing it to stay on a black screen. Once I unblock it, it takes a few seconds to load up. This can happen with any firewall.

Thanks for your help Mustard King, but running as Admin didn't help. GD is enabled in Windows firewall.

Also my game does not hang on a black screen, I get an error message.

@Zantai: Tried, it didn't help.
Btw. isn't that the same thing as DirectX folder under _CommonRedist? :happy_creep:
Have you tried actually trying to make your lappy only use the GPU? Should be some way of just using one or the other? I'm just throwing stuff out there, because i know nothing about lappys.

Laptops with switchable graphics have an option to manually select which GPU is used for an application when it launches. As you can see, I have already selected the high performance GPU.

This equals to "creating a game profile" which is mentioned by other people using Nvidia graphics.

Actually installing latest AMD drivers caused other 3d games to stop working too, so I cleaned the drivers and solved the issues by installing factory drivers from my laptop manufacturer.
