Antichamber

Colorblind Friendly?
I am colorblind and have horrible memories of becoming stuck while gaming due to color coded enemies or puzzles. I still haven't beat Metroid Prime due to a boss with color coded beam specific adds...grr. This game looks extremely interesting, but the trailor video scares me into thinking I won't be able to navigate or solve some puzzles. Am I wrong?

Watch the trailer and see if you can differentiate between the blue, red, green, pink and yellow used in the game. If not, then you might have a problem. Though, I imagine if at leas tthye are distinct from each other that you can do it, albeit with a little more effort.

I have partial color-blindness for Red-Green, and had no problem playing this game.

There were recently a couple of people who were livestreaming their first playthroughs (different people at different times, unrelated), both of whom said they were colorblind. They were able to get throguh the game no problem. The biggest point of interest they said they had problems with was the disintegrator fields; as to which color field corresponded to whether it would break cubes or not.

One of the great things about this game is that despite the color coded blocks, all puzzles can be solved by looking at the surroundings or how the blocks are placed. The 4 block colors are blue, green, yellow, and red, but for the most part their color doesn't matter, certain puzzles have them arranged in certain ways (or no blocks to begin with) that hit at what you're supposed to do with them, but never does it actually require you to look at the color and do something from that.

I can only think of one puzzle that you might have problem with and it is pretty early into the game (the maze). It is still very possible to actually pass because there are marks around each color and I can't say more because I don't want to ruin the game for you if you do indeed decide to buy it.

Yeah but the color of certain things provide a hint as to when you should do certain puzzles. So you wouldn't want to do yellow puzzles with only the blue gun.
Im color blind and this game is impossible for me (Im kinda dumb though so...)

Pages? I think you're in the wrong game there pal.

Achievements. Inspirational quotes. Things that show up in the antichamber. You know.

But on-topic, iamthestupid has it exactly right, it's a hint for when you should be able to execute the intended solution. As far as "null-zone or desintegration field", I can't see the difference either even thought my eyes are fine. Just try it.

Kudos to IGNH for bringing up this thread! That was precisely my question after watching the trailer. Still on the fence, though....that Green is pretty darn Yellow to me...

I am also colourblind/deficient and I am considering buying this, because it looks different to anything I have played before. I have trouble distguinshing between red/green/brown/orange, blue/purple and sometimes light pink and grey. What to do.

Most of the puzzles should be completable regardless of colorblindness. Some of them may be a tiny bit harder. But not a lot of them, and not by much.

Block colour is almost completely irrelevant, you need only remember what level your device is at, which determines the skills available.
There may be issues with the disintegrator fields as mentioned above, so just remember to dump your blocks before stepping into one, to test what happens.
