Humble Indie Bundle 11 Mac and Linux version?
While it says in the FAQ that there is going to be no Linux version and the Mac version isn't released yet, the Humble Indie Bundle 11 included a DRM-Free download of both a Mac and a Windows version. While I'm glad for this, I'm confused. Why exactly are there Mac and Linux versions? Even after an answer for that, why aren't they on Steam?

Hope someone can clear this up ^.^

Because they are drm-free, they are released differently on steam, the dev needs a different type of verification for them, which he doesn't have yet.

Ah. That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.

I'm a little confused, as the Humble sale page definitely lists it as being available for Mac via Steam; did Humble jump the gun here, or is the problem on the Steam side of things?

The dev submitted the game for the humble bundle along with the standalone versions for mac and linux; he has also submitted them to Steam, but it has to go through a verification process in order to be listed on steam.

Gotcha. Thanks!

As a Linux user I would love to have it tie into steam.

I agree with linuxbruiser, I'm awaiting for a Steam Linux version.

I've been keeping my eye on this game for like a year, but never got the chance to play it as it didn't support Linux (and it doesn't run under Wine). Now I'm glad to see it being part of the Humble Bundle with Linux port, but I won't play it until it doesn't appear on Steam.

I believe as long as you have Steam running when you launch the game, then you will still get the trading cards. It just won't count playtime hours.

It's odd how many people develop a drm version for steam when steam is perfectly capable of handling drm-free games distributed through the client:

While it's perfectly capable, I doubt developers want just anybody to be able to download their game on Steam and just give the exe(/app/.sh file) to all of their friends.

He submitted the same version to Valve that he submitted for the HB. It just has to go through a longer verification process before it is released on Steam.
