I was wondering if any of the regular forum members might migrate over here. I'd have thought that restoring the HTML files for the site would have been an easy fix, but I suspect they may be working on making the new site more secure than the old one. (or for all I know files may have been lost when they were hacked and they have to rewrite stuff from scratch) But I hope everything goes back to normal soon!

Hi, Quartex!

I experienced this "community deprivation syndrome" and figured this to be the next place to check by, since I'm not a KS backer. Are there any forums over there too?

Regarding the site, I hope the damage done was not large-scale and/or irrecoverable, especially concerning all the "recorded history" of the community, i.e. all those posts, chat messages, images etc. It was almost a year old, no?

I've sent a steam message to strange_carrots to see if he's got any feedback from the devs.

Here's what Stoic posted on the kickstarter site:

NOTICE: the website got taken down by a self-proclaimed hacker. Why? No reason was given. Boredom, maybe. The database is separate and untouched, so accounts, passwords, etc are secure. It was only the html and images that got wiped. We're working to restore it now. In the meantime, the next video update for the PAX demo is on hold. Thanks for your patience!

Also the Stoic Facebook page has had a few updates recently, so I know the devs are responding to comments posted there.

Indeed. That KS comment is the only official mention of the event, so far. It sounds like the problem is "superficial", meaning that its just the front-end of the forum that got whacked. Hope it comes back soon... The PAX Lets-Play videos got postponed indefinitely too. I am no tech, but I fear that this incident can surely take things back 5-10 days, at least.

The timing is unfortunate, since we're all looking forward to the Let's Play videos, but in the great scheme of things, this is not the end of the world. I'm confident that development of the game itself is continuing - which is the important thing. And Factions is still up - which is nice.

One of my favorite things about Stoic, and the TBS/TBSF games, was the devs-community interaction. I am not really sure about how things work on average in this regard "out there", but I found it awesome that you could talk directly to the devs through chat and/or forum-posts, and have them listening to you just as you listed to them. Its true that they weren't really active in the past few months, but its probably because the game is just too great for only three people to finalize quickly.

zoibergz -- I am afraid this is a frequent problem to most of us. For me, it happens everytime I launch the game, but fortunately it works the second time, always. Can't help you any more. You could contact the Stoic support for details.

Also, try starting a new dedicated discussion/thread about that :-) You can check the 4th "Sticky" discussion in the main board, for the contact emails.

Thanks, Quartex! Unexpected & good news. Seems like we lost ourselves our Raidmaster, from the very start of the story. Bad! Well, I guess back-and-forths, like the one we chose, have that negative effect. We'll to read all the dialogues on this one, not to make another blunder...

Beautiful indeed :-) Also, max-19STR for the Wardog? Wonder what his ability does. The Spearman's stats seem close to the Raiders' so the question is what's his active like. Also, I think Spearmen can attack at a range of 2 tiles.

I hadn't noticed the stats on the new units, I'm expect the Factions players will be freaking out at how powerful they are. Having warriors with really high strength and low armor makes getting that first hit in really important. I think the wardog has a stun ability, but I'm not sure. I expect single-player units to be more powerful and I'm sure they will be rebalanced when they get introduced to Factions.

Yeah, that head-butt stun was the Wardogs alleged ability, but we'll have to see him in game too. I thought that the Warmaster was that freak with extra-high STR (and low ARM), but perhaps the WD out-does him :-) We'll just have to wait and see...

I voted #2 on the fourth video (do a diversion with Iver & Rook). I am resolved to keep Iver's advice at all costs, and I'm prepared to handle a tough battle. People are voting for #3 (store-house), but Iver said it explicitly that the Dredge will keep on coming, are tireless and unrelenting, so a few more supplies won't make a difference. Speed is the key here, I recon. So, #1 (moving with all the clan) is slow slow slow...
