No in-game sound

For some reason I cannot hear any in-game sound (no music, no sounds effects). I already re-installed the OpenAL as is suggested on the Troubleshooting thread to no avail.

I've no other sound device connected to my sound card other than my speakers, which are working just fine. This is a Hotline Miami issue only, all other games, videos, music, and whatnot are working just fine.

Any suggestions?

There are some reports like yours, all on WinXP, where any known fix doesn't solve the problem... I have no idea how to solve the problem (run as administrator? It didn't work for the others but well...). If you ever find a solution don't hesitate to come back and say it, but apart from that I guess your best bet is to play Original...

Well, that's a bummer. Theys should warn XP users about this.

Could you point me to some thread or page where I can learn about the differences between Original and Updated?

Updated version is more stable, features score leaderboards, additional PC preorder bonus level (also known as PS3-Vita bonus level), fixed achievements, offers the possibility to change languages, resolution, and play in windowed mode.

To be honest I don't quite think it will be fixed soon. You may want to contact the devs directly to let them know people are waiting for a fix...

I just installed it on a Windows 7 machine and got another error. That's enough to me, I just wanted to play the game, no troubleshoot it. I've plenty of other games to play, and all of them work just fine. It's a shame, because I've heard that Hot Line Miami is a good game.

I'm sure the error you have on Windows 7 is actually a very easy to solve error most likely caused by not up to date graphics driver. Please don't give up! You'd be missing out on a awesome experience...

As far as I know everybody on Windows 7 has been able to enjoy the game just taking a look at the fixes in this thread.
