Settings File Corrupt

I just installed Payday 2 after getting it when it was free a few weeks back. When I launch it, a menu pops up, which says "ERROR Settings file corrupt. Try loading again?" There is a yes/no box beneath this. However, I can't click either of the options, and my cursor won't show up. I can skip through the inrto screens, but I can't do anything on the screen that says "Press any key." Does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this? Thanks for your time.

Does the message go away after you change the volume? The steps are:

1: Open game
2: Use your xbox 360 controller to select 'Yes' in the yes/no dialog box. (Use the x360ce driver if you have a gamecube controller. In order to get the gamecube controller to work with your computer in the first place, go here: http://m4sv.com/page/wii-u-gcn-usb-driver)
3: Press any key on your keyboard.
4: Press the escape key and adjust the volume settings. If the dialog box shows up, just press yes again.

I'm having this same problem, I got the game for free and just niw as I try to run I get this same error and can't start the game.

I turned down master volume
I deleted the setting file
I don't have a controller, only keyboard mouse
I can't start game at all to adjust settings from within the game.

Any help appreciated, thanks for reading.

After finishing the tutorial, download xbox360ce and find "vJoy" and map those buttons because Payday 2 only support Xinput Controllers only, so emulate an X360 controller.

Guys to fix the problem the only thing they have to do is to install any type of driver from a remote and I want the drivers of an old control that I no longer use and it is fixed

So I had this problem, changed the volume a bit and BINGO! It worked.

...sort of. Instead of telling me my settings were corrupt during transitions it just began kicking me at random (most notably at the end of every heist). Reinstalling to see if that changes anything.

i changed the volume with my mouse and keyboard, and it works fine now

i was able to fix mine by removing the usb out the back of my pc that connect my steering wheel the the computer, this allowed a cursor to show up on the pay day 2 screen. so if you have usb devices plugged in try unplugging them and then loading up pay day 2.

This is happening for me too and I have had the game for a year but I did get a new PC and that is when the message started popping up

I don't have a controller either. I changed the settings file that's already been mentioned (C:\Users\<your user>\AppData\Local\PAYDAY 2\renderer_settings.xml). There's a line that says:

windowed = "false"

change that to

windowed = "true"

Save the file and run the game. I don't have any previous saves so I just went with the options that deleted old data.

Like everyone else, i did have to change the volume setting to get that error to stop popping up. I've restarted the games a couple of times and it hasn't come back.
