[Linux] Easy installation of Adobe AIR
You can use installer and it will register application in RPM/DEB package manager. But it fails if your DE is not GNOME2 or KDE4.

RPM-based (Red Hat, CentOS, Fedora, Opensuse, Mageia):

http://airdownload.adobe.com/air/lin/download/2.6/adobeair.i386.rpm

DEB-based (Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, SteamOS):

I'll let our linux guy know, hopefully we can make this easier on everyone in an upcoming patch.

The issue with these installers is that they don't prompt you to accept the Adobe AIR EULA. Thus, when you install AIR using these packages and then try to start an AIR application, the AIR runtime will check if you have already accepted the EULA - which you probably haven't. In that case, instead of asking you to accept the EULA, it just silently fails, giving no indication as to what the problem is.

You can manually accept the EULA (as described in the Arch Wiki[wiki.archlinux.org]) to solve this issue, but without knowing about this issue, it's very hard to figure out why the game doesn't start.

:-(

One or two years ago there was Humble Botanicula Bundle. It was a sale of Botanicula game. I did not know how, but they made bundled Adobe AIR in Linux version. I think this is repack of AIR SDK, I saw manual how to repack AIR but I don't find it now. I don't remember is Botanicula shows EULA.

Sorry for bad English.

I've updated the install script on linux to have easier AIR installation, and added a new page to our website (linked in the install process as a fallback):

There was an update today that fixed the AIR install problem for me. I'm running Mint 15 x64 with Catalyst 13.12 drivers. I'd like to thank the dev for the fix. :)

I'm on my laptop in a hotel trying to play this, and I'm running into AIR issues. I hope you're not using this for the sequel.. Especially since proper Linux support was canned quite some time ago. :( It's only a matter of time before the apps stop working altogether.

We're definitely leaving AIR behind for the sequel -- we'll be using Haxe next time around, which will let us get native C++ compiled targets on all PC platforms.

Should be easier to install, better performance, higher resolution, hardware accelerated, and lower memory/CPU requirements. I'll have tech demos out shortly and alpha builds for our alpha pre-order backers out not so shortly.

This is excellent. :) I'll be buying, for sure.

Worked fine for me on Ubuntu 14.04 x64 - Adobe EULA was shown first time I ran Defender's Quest, so no problems there.

@lars.doucet: If you are ever doing an update of the install.sh for Linux, please switch to those two packages.
