*READ ME* EU Players

The steam version of Planetside 2 is US VERSION.

If you would like to play on EU version you need to download the game directly from planetside2.eu, and register account there. (Or read work around 2)

Accounts made at planetside2.eu will NOT work with steam version. You cannot create account for planetside2 US because of the region block on registration website.

As of now 21.11.2012 the EU client is rather ****** and most of the time it just doesn't work.
US version seem to work fine for me. Use it at your own risk.


2 EU servers are accessible via US/STEAM client although your account and game is still US .
So you can use US client and US account to access EU server Miller and Woodman. Not sure hows that possible (because normaly you need separate account for EU client but still, it works)



----WORK AROUND----

1. Go to http://www.everquest2.com/
2. Create SOE account (there is no region block there)
3. Verify via link in email.
4. Log in to everquest2.com website
5. Goto planetside2.com and login with the everquest account details
6. You can login to steam vesion of planetside 2 (US) with the same account details.

There is no region or ip block in the game, just in the registration.

1b) alternatively you can use any old SOE U.S. account to login to the game. (If you played any other SOE games like Star wars Galaxies for example :P )

You CAN use steam client to access EUROPE servers by typing this "environment=psg" at the bottom of the "LaunchPad.ini" file. You will find that file at Steam\steamapps\common\PlanetSide 2. It will turn the US version launchpad into the euro version.

Remember to re-launch the game and 'verify' game files after modification of the ini file.

I can't even get to the registration page, but i don't want to create a us account. I'll guess I give the game a few days for possible fixes.

This is unacceptable. I took me several hours to download the game yesterday. A version that doesn't even work in Europe. Delete this dysfunctional product from the European store please.

You CAN use steam to access EUROPE servers by typing this "environment=psg" at the bottom of the "LaunchPad.ini" file. You will find that file at Steam\steamapps\common\PlanetSide 2. It will turn the US version launchpad into the euro version. But of course, the euro version doesn't work as of this writing.

Even though its US client, there are two EU servers avilable to play through it. You account may remain US but the server is Eu. Not sure why is that because you need separate account to use EU client but . .well . . . maybe SOE noticed thay ♥♥♥♥ up.

That is easy question actualy. Because They prefer to sell type_name_of_item for 15$ in US and 15Euro in here. They will get much more money than just selling stuff to europeans for 15$ as well. You know, "peopel wont notice" that 15$=/=15Euro, and they will get some more cash ;P

Law? Taxes? Dunno. . . but still a lot of game companies do that and alarming percentage of them belive that 10$=10€. Even though they could easly do one client+separate servers. If you don't know the point of something, there is a very very big chance its about money.

No, I meant why aren't they able to display both currencies in the same client. Like for an EU player they display € and for a US player $.
But I'm assuming it is because they for some really weird reason have different publishers for EU and US.. or whatever this ProSiebenSat.1 (EU) is.

I played the beta and couldn't wait to play this on Steam. I'm in EU, I subscribed to premium paying in euros through the game installed with Steam, I'm playing fine on Miller and woodman and no way I'm downloading all of this again. It works, end of the story. Thanks for posting this btw.
