This or Dark Souls

I was looking to get this game or Dark souls. They are both 20 and seem to be sort of the same style of game. I have played Demon souls a while back on the ps2 and I enjoyed it.

I do have a nice control to use for ether as well.

Does Orcs and Men allow you to collect loot and wear it? Which has better combat?

I only played Dark Souls, but from I've heard about Of Orcs and Men, I'd say get Dark Souls. Not saying Of Orcs and Men is bad, but you will probably play Dark Souls more than Of Orcs and Men.

Definately get Dark Souls. I'm about two hours into this game and the combat is disappointing, the path is linear, and the loot few and far between. Story is good though.

On the other hand, combat in Dark Souls is tight, demanding, and enjoyable. The path is branching, and the loot random enough to feel good. The story is ... complicated and largely meaningless.

As someone who's played both. If you want a long, challenging game (yet rewarding) - go with Dark Souls. If you want a fun, short term game that has a good storyline go with Orcs.

The Dark Souls PC port is horrendous... Get the ps3 or xbox360 version instead if that is an option, Both Dark and Demon Souls are definitely some of the greatest games of all time, they take gaming back to a time when they were unforgiving and challenging, not full of cutscenes and voice actors.

I for one am not missing those times. Wouldn't say Of Orcs and Men is unchallenging either. Maybe you should give the hardest difficulty a try. ;)

While I haven't played Dark Souls, I know that its combat is action based, while the combat here is more tactical. Pause-menu to queue up abilities, and unpause to unfold. Bit like Dragon Age. You can't go and hack away with your mousebutton.

The PC port isn't fantastic, no, but as long as you play with a 360 controller it is STILL the best version. If, for nothing else, the total lack of slowdown and lag in Blighttown (assuming of course you have the rig to run it full speed).

It depends on what you're looking for - if you enjoy turn based combat (semi-turn base actually) and the ability to switch between 2 different characters with 2 different playing styles then get this game. If you want hard-core action with a high level of difficulty for the challenge with real time combat, then go DS - they're two very different games. And yes you can loot and wear items you find. But according to the review on Gamespot, loot is far and few in between (I've only played for an hr and found 2 usual pieces of armour so far)
