The dark medieval times. From the seperation of the eastern and western empire until the age of the crusades - covered in Medieval I & II. Rise of the Huns and the Vandals and the fall of Rome itself, the anglo and the saxon conquest of Britain, Charlemagne, the Rise of Islam and the subsequent decline of christianity in the mediterranean area - as well as christianity's own spread throughout northern Europe and the subsequent decline of the ancient religions that were dominant there. And then of course there's the Vikings.

That era would be awesome.

Dark age Britain is an interesting period so many different tribes invading, defending and fighting for domination. Romano British vs Saxons, Jutes, Angles. Irish raiders, Scots invading from Ireland fighting Britons in Kingdom of Strathclyde and the Picts. Epic struggles. History is a bit hazy and patchy though but should be no problem to "reimagine". Could be part of a scenario like Mr Lupus previously outlined.

Expect Asia Total War IMO. Featuring the Chinese States, Tartars, Merkits and, of course, the Mongols.

Ha! The Mongols that takes me back. Remember MTW2. Did anyone try and destroy their armies or did they just gather an army of agents and murder them.
