Pirates and Raiders DLC pointless???
hmm honestly it seems like from the 3 factions getae has all the units including horse archers and few extras so is it really worth it?

Tylis has to be the faction that is actually worth it, even though they are Celtic they have an expansive unit roster, however Odyrissa and Ardiaei's unit roster is lacking variety, though they have some strong units. I'd say it would be worth it for campaign but not for multiplayer, I don't think the DLC is pointless from my experience - unless you don't play it if you bought it.

I'm currently playing as the Ardiaei and they are quite a fun faction to play as imo. I have been earning mass profits from raiding and blockading other factions and their trade routes. They do pretty well with a slaver based and industrial economy as they are not farmers (they get debuffs to income from agriculture). Also dominating the seas with their powerful array of naval units and the accessibility to recuit them early game is awesome, imo they are one of the more enjoyable DLC factions, especially if you really role play them as a pirate faction.

That said, just play the Getae, they are free and probably the best Balken culture faction.

I was llooking at the Ardiaei as a reason to get the dlc. I saw some of their buildings massively reduced the cost of making naval units. Usually early game a navy is dangerous to put together as it costs a lot and one could lose them all very quickly.

I actually think that £5.99 is a bit steep but bought it recently from nuuvem, a brazilian site featured on isthereanydeal.com for about £3.20

They have no military wharf but the great thing is their standard dockyard is the universal port for miltary ships, you can train some really powerful ships from the standard dockyard early on such as Illyrian marine Terteres/Hexteres, Ballistae Penteres etc, but you can also recuit very cheap slave ships on mass that have around 50 upkeep, very usefull for overwhelming the enemy. They also have a factional trait that increases their ship recruitment slots +1. Most armies/navies are fairly cheap to upkeep, I have at the moment at imperium 3 - 6 armies 3 full navies and still earning 5k per turn.

Their only downside is they don't have a great variety of cavalry or decent missile infantry. They have very powerful spear infantry and their melee infantry are so-so such as the Illyrian raiders which are a decent axe wielding unit capable of killing most medium tier units. Illyrian Marines are probably their best unit, a multi-role spear infantry that can throw javelins at will like peltasts do.

They do sound pretty cool. Would be nice to not have to not have to grab a sea port walled city for the military wharf like usual. Also I think they have a nice religious building for population grwoth, could build up economy faster.

I still might wait for a sale, this is steam after all, but I do want to play as them.
