FTL: Faster Than Light

FTL: Faster Than Light

İstatistiklere Bak:
I love all roguelikes and this one is great but its lacking one thing.
more unlockables. Achievements dont count. Thats just lame fluff. More weapons need to unlock or more ships or more components or more enemies. Or small upgrades. For instance a great roguelike design in recent memory is the binding of isaac where every game for 80 hours of play you're unlocking new things from new enemies, to new bosses to new items. Theres something like 200 weapons to unlock that you will find in the game and probably about half that in enemies.

Most roguelikes have lots of unlocks and this one needs more.

It would be funny if your ship got mutated over the process like the characters in Binding of Issac do, with rooms, weapons and modifications (good and bad) appearing hastily bolted on.
Unlockables are mostly fine. A few more ships, maybe and with that maybe even more races.
But more weapons? We have already a bunch some people barely use. This would only add more people would ignore.
right now there are only about 4 useful weapons, would be easy to add more weapon types.

Only four ?
Let me count... All beams, thats 6
Basic Laser, Dual Laser, Burst laser Mk2 and 3 makes 10
All bombs is 5 more I think, so 15
Artemis, Pegasus, Breach and Hull Missiles are all useful, 19
The Ion blast Mk1 and 2 makes 21
Hull and Heavy lasers can be good, another 4 making it 26.
So that makes 26 useful weapons, with only about 5 weapons that are useless in most circumstances. Plenty of variety too.
So I agree we don`t need MORE weapons, but mostly because there is already enough variety in the weapons, and most of them are good. And that`s not even going into drones...
enjoy beating the boss with a burst laser 1.

I didnt say all weapons I said useful weapons
Useful means more than 'useful at the very end of the game'

Because the game starts with you fighting the final boss with a super-powered ship, right? It's not like we have to start from scratch every single time. :p

The amusing thing is I didn`t even count the Burst Laser Mk1 as a "useful" weapon. But the guys above are right, useful extends beyond the final boss. Also I did consider the final boss when writing that list, and every weapon I listed can be used, and used well, against the final boss. Some need other weapons to be effective, but thats why you have three or four weapon slots innit ? Maybe someone needs to reevaluate his tactics.
By the way, Binding of Isaac is decidely NOT a roguelike, in the same way that FTL is not a roguelike and BF3 multiplayer is not a MMORPG despite having a "level progression" mechanic.
Most roguelikes have exactly ZERO unlocks, I can`t remember having to unlock the Naga race in DCSS or the Battlemage class in ELONA.
wolf is correctish Binding of Issac has about 0 in common with the game rougue and is therefore not a roguelike. FTL is perhaps not a roguelike but is closer in the play style but is more real time. now a good roguelike which is an example is Dungeons of dredmore which has no unlocks. generally when someone says roguelike they mean three things: Permadeath/really difficult, turn based but not JRPG style combat, and LOOT!!!!
comparing this to dungeons of dredmore? I would ♥♥♥♥ myself if this game had as many class choices as that game. Stupid fanboys defending a game because you like it instead of accepting that there are actual flaws that if arent outspoken will never get addressed.

So from what I gather you want a game that is :
Easy
Simple
Easy
Keeps most of it`s content behind unlocks
Easy
Caters to your specific brand of incompetence
Did I mention Easy ?

Dredmore has plenty of problems, but it`s actually a roguelike so I can see why you would`nt like it. Also choice, my god there are ways to play this game more complicated than "push button receive win screen." Go play Smurf Village or something, that seems to be your speed.
because when I play binding of isaac or dungeons of dreadmore, or any roguelike in general I think easy. Wow your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid.

The binding of Isaac is NOT a roguelike, how often do I have to tell people that ?
Dredmore is very much "babbys first roguelike" while at the same time being fairly difficult as these things go. Also, weren`t you the one who said Dredmore had flaws ? Also too many class choices ?

Everything you say makes you seem like a simpleton, not in the "stupid" sense, more in the "I am confused by more than 4 options" sense. Extrapolating from that, and your inability to format your posts in a way that does not make me want to kill you, I can only arrive at the conclusion that you have no idea how horrendously difficult a "real" roguelike is, and hold up BoI as some sort of gold standard. And compared to IVAN or Nethack, hell compared to freaking Diablo, BoI is a walk in the park.
So excuse me for coming to the conclusion that you want what "I" would consider an easy game.
You realise that one of the strongest traits of dredmore is that it has so much choice. if you want less choice go play call of duty but I like my choice. as for easy I may suck but I always play permadeath on dredmore and still have not beaten the game. sure if I turned permadeath off I'd win in a heartbeat but that would make it boring. IF I ever beat dredmore and FTL I will probly move on to "harder" roguelikes. oh and a hint: swearing makes you sound much less intelegent than just explaining yourself.
