But more weapons? We have already a bunch some people barely use. This would only add more people would ignore.
Only four ?
Let me count... All beams, thats 6
Basic Laser, Dual Laser, Burst laser Mk2 and 3 makes 10
All bombs is 5 more I think, so 15
Artemis, Pegasus, Breach and Hull Missiles are all useful, 19
The Ion blast Mk1 and 2 makes 21
Hull and Heavy lasers can be good, another 4 making it 26.
So that makes 26 useful weapons, with only about 5 weapons that are useless in most circumstances. Plenty of variety too.
So I agree we don`t need MORE weapons, but mostly because there is already enough variety in the weapons, and most of them are good. And that`s not even going into drones...
I didnt say all weapons I said useful weapons
Because the game starts with you fighting the final boss with a super-powered ship, right? It's not like we have to start from scratch every single time. :p
The amusing thing is I didn`t even count the Burst Laser Mk1 as a "useful" weapon. But the guys above are right, useful extends beyond the final boss. Also I did consider the final boss when writing that list, and every weapon I listed can be used, and used well, against the final boss. Some need other weapons to be effective, but thats why you have three or four weapon slots innit ? Maybe someone needs to reevaluate his tactics.
By the way, Binding of Isaac is decidely NOT a roguelike, in the same way that FTL is not a roguelike and BF3 multiplayer is not a MMORPG despite having a "level progression" mechanic.
Most roguelikes have exactly ZERO unlocks, I can`t remember having to unlock the Naga race in DCSS or the Battlemage class in ELONA.
So from what I gather you want a game that is :
Easy
Simple
Easy
Keeps most of it`s content behind unlocks
Easy
Caters to your specific brand of incompetence
Did I mention Easy ?
Dredmore has plenty of problems, but it`s actually a roguelike so I can see why you would`nt like it. Also choice, my god there are ways to play this game more complicated than "push button receive win screen." Go play Smurf Village or something, that seems to be your speed.
The binding of Isaac is NOT a roguelike, how often do I have to tell people that ?
Dredmore is very much "babbys first roguelike" while at the same time being fairly difficult as these things go. Also, weren`t you the one who said Dredmore had flaws ? Also too many class choices ?
Everything you say makes you seem like a simpleton, not in the "stupid" sense, more in the "I am confused by more than 4 options" sense. Extrapolating from that, and your inability to format your posts in a way that does not make me want to kill you, I can only arrive at the conclusion that you have no idea how horrendously difficult a "real" roguelike is, and hold up BoI as some sort of gold standard. And compared to IVAN or Nethack, hell compared to freaking Diablo, BoI is a walk in the park.
So excuse me for coming to the conclusion that you want what "I" would consider an easy game.
