Bad Client Version
How do I fix this? Why am I even getting this on the steam version?

Try to reload the steam client, it should start to download update

My one did start downloading. Will wait and try again when it finishes

OK this fix worked for me. It';s the 1st time I've seen Steam so sloppy so I'll let this one slide. Fearless, make sure you completely shut down steam including from the tray. Fingers crossed for you.
