and that would also be a reason haha
I am curious though, as to why that would cause this problem. o.o
(Also, how do people play without DS fix? I didn't think it was that big of a difference at first, but that fight against 4 kings was HELL without it) >.<
Also you`re all spoiled. Back in my day you could count the polys on a model on one hand and still have fingers left over.
I was around for NES though, why you assume I'm new? o.o
My problem wasn't with anything graphical, my problem was fighting the hardest boss in vanilla DS on like 10 fps o:
No, that way lay madness. I have so little SAN to lose.
And I`m not assuming you`re new, I`m just being a generally grumpy old man gamer. Don`t tell me you don`t get mad at all the little neckbeardlings who look at stuff like BAK and ES3 and go "Those are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ graphics" when you clearly remember them being pretty awesome at the time.
Games were better back then, actually BETTER, though they looked worse. Dark Souls is pleasantly evocative of the time before Halo, when you couldn`t wow scrublings with graphics and had to deliver a solid game, and it even doesn`t look terrible vanilla. So everytime someone goes "The graphics are unplayably bad without DSFix" a little part of my faith in my hobby community dies, never to respawn at a bonfire.
I`m not even 30. I`m far too young to be telling kids to GTFO my lawn and yet they make me.
I know what you mean, but I do feel certain types of games need good graphics to be truely effective. o:
For example, I played FFXIII not long ago, and imo the gameplay was an abomination, but the story was alright, and the graphics helped me get into that.
If the graphics were that of VII, and there was no voice acting, I feel it would have been less effective, and I probably wouldn't have played it, due to the fact that the game itself is basically 'press A repeatedly and LB once in a while when you need to heal'
Imo there's the new kids who hate on anything without good graphics, and constantly play their CoD, Battlefield, and Halo games.
And then theirs the old school guys who despise the same games.
While I'm with the old schoolers, where if I want to shoot something, I'll probably go play DOOM or something, I also appreciate the newer versions as well.
I've had quite a few times on Halo 2, and 3. And while I didn't like the gameplay of Reach as much, I will admit it had probably the best story I've seen for a shooter.
Also, I -hate- the CoD/Battlefield craze, but I can admit that the zombies mode in CoD is fun as hell :D
Dark Souls did well imo because it catered to both groups. It had that feeling of an old game, back when every game was something new and interesting, and we didn't have all these clones, also it's the type of game you could play over and over and still love it.
Yet at the same time, everything is beautiful, and honestly just really cool and badass, to the point where even if you don't like the game, you could probably sit and watch someone play it, and still enjoy it. The first time I saw Artorias (or thinking about it, just about any of the bosses for that matter) I was legitimately impressed with the level of epicness. Add in the amazing music, and it gets even better!
Anyways, I am rambling, and don't even know what I'm talking about anymore n_n'''
Thank you for the help. :)
This DOES make the fight very difficult due to the poor framerate you'll get, but at least you can complete the game.
