F@CK WITCHER 1!! if you want to get either one of them i would go with Witch 2, watch the game-play for 1 on youtube or something. YOU MAY WONDER WHY I SAY THIS!! i say this because i have both of them and witcher 1 DOES NOT WORK WELL ON STEAM, this may just be me but look at the posts. Witcher 2 on the other hand works fine. hope this helps :)

I bought the witcher 1 enhanced edition. Yes i will say the gameplay is a little dated.. but i havent had any techinical problems running it. I bought the first because i was told i wouldnt know what was going on if i just bought the 2nd story wise... I will be buying the second after i finish the first.

I confirm that Witcher 1 has some bugs that can be considered game-breaking by some. But I'll never regret buying it.

I got the withcher 1 the other day and im enjoying it a lot but is has crashed 2 or 3 times so far and its annoying th life out of me. It's still not enough to make me stop playing though.

17 hours in so far and it only crashes when I exit the game - not a big deal. No issues other than that. X-Com is way buggier, and that's not too bad. Definitely get it, if you like western RPGs. I'm playing on a 2010 Asus G73, works fine.

I loved Witcher 1, but to run it you must:

1) right-click the game in your library and select properties.
2) click set lanuch options
3) type in "-dontforceminreqs" including the hyphon.

Because the game maxed hardware when it came out it doesn't recognize modern equipment. Once I figured this out the game ran fine on my 2011 laptop. It only crashed once during my 37 hour play through.
Can you play witcher 2 withan xbox 360 controller?

I bought The Witcher 1 here on Steam recently and I've had no issues playing it. The game itself feels quite dated but I really like the look of The Witcher 2 so I wanted to give the first one a go to get to know it.

Still didn't try Witcher 2. From what I know it looks better, but has more console action RPG feel, compared to first game. My friends seem to hate it for various reasons but people here say it it awesome.. I'll try it myself anyway.
Also, after many patches there are still significant bugs in W1, some spells seem to work incorrectly, crashes are frequent. I suspect there are much more in W2 since it is a newer game.

New XCOM is a piece of ♥♥♥♥, if you played original game, or Jagged alliance games, or Incubation. And bugs that freeze the game all the time after almost unavoidable event...

If you have the Steam Version of the Witcher 1 you can register it at GoG.com to get a DRM free version. Same applies to Witcher 2.

I'm using witcher 1 Full Combat Rebalance, Which I think makes the combat much better. I prefer the witcher 1, because it's got more quests, more typical RPG feel. And more world building. And Not having to sit your ass down to drink a potion.

However imo, the witcher 2 has much better pacing and better combat, though having to meditate to drink potions is annoying. It essentially uses the world built upon the witcher 1 so the world building isn't needed as much, but it feels a bit emptier. I played witcher 2 first and then 1. I'd rather have played it 1 then 2. So that's how I suggest it.
