Remove silly effects mod
I decided to remove a bunch of effects that I think look silly. Like the explosion effects when you fight enemies, and the lightning bolts and symbols above NPCs. To make it look a bit more cinematic.

You know to remove the lightning bolt symbol above the heads all you had to do was play it on the hardest difficulty. Just saying

Yeah but you have to complete the game to unlock that difficulty, and it still doesn't remove the fight effects.

I know, I was just being silly, but tbh I don't really understand the point in making it more "realistic" and "cinematic" in a pixelated universe; but to each there own right?

How are those things silly? They've been a part of the franchise since Arkham Asylum. And like celticurse said, you just have to play on the hard difficulty to get rid of them.

Are you really that fickle that you need to mod the game before you finish it?

And how does that bother you all so much? Let the man be.

And here I was hoping someone would've (finally) removed the film grain and chromatic aberration. I am disappoint.

think you could turn this off in settings

Im glad theres a way to remove them since it does kill the immersion, some people probably dont mind it because it makes the gameplay easier for them like when it shows you should block.

It's just a preference I have, I find those things immersion killing. I'm not forcing you to download it or anything.

Also I'm waiting for the patch, not gonna finish the game when it's in this state

Wow, somebody make a small mod to tune the game to his liking and people get upset, really?

Thumbs up for the mini-mod :-)

Looks darn good to me. I'll be glad when the patch is released - this will be one of the first mods I'll d/l.

Think this mod gave me crashes on my system. Was getting them pretty frequently (maybe once every few hours) and just blamed it on the most recent patch, but I decided to uninstall these files to make sure and I haven't had any crashes so far. Not sure why this mod would cause such instability since I was never in combat during the crashes, but it's still something to consider.

I love it. I will try it out for sure.
I remember playing Arkham Asylum on Hard just because the lightining would be invisible. Then the option was removed in Arkham City forcing you to finish.

However, the game will get a lot harder because you wil need extra attention to know which enemies you cant counter.

Anyway.. thanks for the mod. I love it.

I agree with you. But I will wait for the patch to try the mod. Do you think the patch could mess the mod up by any chance?

I think the patch he's referring to was one of the many that have already been released, that post was back in August. And like I posted eariler, the mod still works but it gave me fairly frequent crashes on my system.

EDIT: although, as I've stated, the mod still functions in the sense that it still removes the effects during combat, but it gave me frequent crashes that may have to do with some incompatibility with the patches. I've no idea the technicals but it may need to be re-written to be fully "compatible."
