how to fix your start up fails

ok, this a fyi for those dissappointed players out there, i am running win7 with an amd driver,i also had problem gettin game to start, going into your own comp and doing driver update will not help problem, your computer believes it has right 1, i went directly to amd web site, and used there free driver downloader program, took about 20 mins to get loaded and reload driver, it is all automatic, no digging for crap,amd did update driver to steam lvl playing and game started no problem, played it so hard i over heated my comp hehehe, hope this helps... buckethead gamer

I tried the above method and its still not working for me...the screen is black and i can here sounds of the game running.8(

what graphic card do you have? open your device manager and click display driver,see what kind , get back to me , i'll find you a fix

It's an ati radeon hd 4800 series, I definitely feel its a graphic issue but I have updated the drivers and all the other options on this forum have given no results.

i try to update my driver useing the auto downloader program and it gets all the way through then says this is not supported please contact you notrbook manufacturer. the sony site seems to be a joke to get anything. at this rate the game is being returned tomorow.

Tell me what OS you have dos, if the OS is 32 or 64, and then tell me what graphics card you have...I can give you a step by step guide.

vista 64 bit...resolution is 1280, any higher and it has the same result, by the way, the same thing happens with left for dead 2...exactly.

Contact the maker of your laptop or desktop...the sites don't have them that old.

i gave up and returned the game cause it diddnt work as advertised so i got a refund

Ya, the problem is that some laptops like yours won't accept certain updates required to run certain games that need said update. Sucks, but usually those laptops are designed for business purposes over gaming, so the maker doesn't care to make sure that your machine needs said updates...and that your machine itself understands that....seeing as the said computer wasn't designed for gaming...it saves them time and money on the production line is why.

yeah realisticly the thetop wasnt bought for gaming but it did run doom 3, + expansion previously. the origonal non dteam version so i figured it should run the bfg version but oh well
