Graphic problem. Can't play. Please help

I have bought Doom 3 BFG a few days ago.
When I start the game it returns me a blank light grey screen. I hear the music and the sound effects, it indicates that the game runs properly, but I am totally unable to play.

These are my specs:
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Model: Dell Studio 1749
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 520 @ 2.40GHz, 2400 Mhz, 2 cores, 4 logical processors
RAM: 4,00 GB
Graphic card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650, 1,00 GB 800 Mhz DDR3 RAM
Native resolution: 1600 x 900

Of course my graphic card drivers are updated.
I've read that the graphic cards required are ATI Radeon HD 5750 or upper; I have a 5650. Could my graphic card be the reason of the problem? I don't think so because I've found on youtube a lot of video of people playing Doom 3 BFG with a Radeon 5650, even if the laptop model is different.

OK problem solved. I have installed ATI Catalyst Mobility 64-bit Utility and I have «optimized» my graphic card. After this the screen works.
But now I have another problem: the games freezes while loading the first stage (I see «PLEASE WAIT» and a little description of the stage but nothing else happens).
Any help? :|

Ok so i have a fix that will work for most of the ppl out there. If you have a nvidia card you must make sure of two things to get them game the game working correctly. One download a program called nvidia inspector and go into options make sure that extension limet is turned off...if its turned on the game will give you that unable to initialize error that almost everyone on planet earth is getting. Now here is the second thing to make the game work 100% perfect..if your like me I use MSI after burner..I was always monitoring my temp and stuff in the options by chance I noticed that if you stop monitoring those things doom 1 and doom 2 will work 100% perfect..dont know why but as soon as I stopped monitoring temp and stuff thoses games work perfect now. So give it a try you will quicky see that both tricks work for nvidia users..ppl with radon ati cards dont know so sorry I cant help you.
