Doom 3 bfg edition crashes

I bought the game and installed it succesfully on my laptop but then I tried to run it on my tower PC and it somehow failed to install properly. everytime I click the play button in steam or use the desktop shortcut it crashes immediatly saying: "Doom 3 bfg edition dosent work anymore"
has anyone a clue??

#1 - you are on WinXP with AMD video card = fail
#2 - drivers are out of date or not properly installed
#3 - you are running unsupported desktop resolution on your display
#4 - unsupported GPU (for Intel it's anything below 3000HD)
