Really annoyed with Doom 2 right now

For some random reason Doom 2 deleted my main save file and if I select the slot it used to be in the game crashes. I'm just glad that I had an extra save file from a few levels before my other one. Anyone know a fix or if it's a common problem? I would be really grateful if you could help me.

Save file is probably corrupted. I don't think it's very common but it can happen with any game. No idea if it can be fixed or not.
