do i need season 1 and 400 days to make progression in season 2?
like whould it make a difference if i have the previous once or not?

No you can go right ahead but there WILL be MAJOR spoilers for season 2 but i would reccomend playing season 1 first. 400 dayz is optional it just puts certain chacraters in season 2 for a min or so and thats it.
EDIT: But it may make a difference like if you swear in season 1 someone in season 2 will pick up on that swearing.

It doesn't.
Well you know what you're wrong. It does clem swears in the bathroom stall if you say swear alot i the season 1 game.

And yet on the bridge in episode two regardless of your choices in season one she will always swear.

And? The point is that regardless of what choices in season one you made these weren't considered in regards to her dialogue at certain points in season two.

well obiously a walker is behind you both but you still swear and he got hurt by your words and left to his ghoul's family
