Okay, one question:

Are these spiders re-spawning? I can't stand these things. They're pests.

I'm pretty sure enemies won't respawn in LoG.

If they're appearing behind you or something, you likely either missed them in a room, or uh... triggered.. a trap.

I haven't played the game since then..

Some will, but only on much later levels, and only if they drop food.
Spiders never respawn, but they are definitely known for popping out of secret passages that you didn't know you opened.

If it makes you feel safer, break the eggs. Thats what I do.

The eggs are at worst obstructive. Most are just decorative.

Funny story. I had come back to this game after quitting a while back. I couldnt remember why I had quit until I saw that my last save file was called "Stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Spiders".

There is a part where you find a note on level 3. This spawns a set of spiders! Also Use the eggs to funnel the spiders so they cant surrond you. Most of my fights happen to where i pulled the room to the hallway so it was always one on one.
