ClaDun x2
Proper full screen?
I'm trying to use full screen but it keeps getting "boxed" in full screen, the game looks so small especially when played on a TV.

Also, I'm playing the demo, is it more challenging as I progress? Or will it keep being easy?

Thanks!

If you have an Nvidia card, you can fix this by going to the GPU control panel, select "Adjust desktop size and position" on the left. Make sure "Aspect ratio" is the selected scaling mode.

Then under the setting that says "Perform scaling on:" make sure GPU is selected, check the box next to "Override the scaling mode set by games and programs" and click apply.

AMD's control panel may have a similar setting, but I don't know for sure.

almost 4 years, haha thanks for the answer.

No problem. Patience is a virtue and all that. :)

I'm working on a guide that will also help with screen flickering issues with v-sync turned on, if that's also a problem for you. Most here have suggested disabling v-sync but there's a much better option.

how about this?

I tried that. It works but it's not ideal, since it prevents you from doing anything else on the computer while the magnify program is active. Using GPU scaling from the control panel allows you to play the game in fullscreen without any downsides that I'm aware of.

This isn't working for me :(

I can't get the game to run full screen at all. When I try to I just see the upper left corner and the rest gets cut off.

I just tested it again and it does still work on my machine, but I'm also using Windows 7, so if you're on Win 10 then I'm guessing the scaling method has changed.

You might still be able to get proper fullscreen by trying different settings in the "Adjust desktop size and position" section of the Nvidia control panel. Try the different scaling modes and also whether the monitor or the GPU handles scaling, and maybe some combination will work.
Alright, I got it working. I'm on Windows 7 as well. Your method was right, but I had to do an extra step:

Find the .exe for the game (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ClaDun x2) and right click it -> properties -> Compatibility tab, then check the box "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings"

Now it's full screen with no border, but then the flickering started. So I turned off V-sync in game, added Cladun X2 to my Nvidia programs list under Manage 3D Settings, and forced v-sync through that using "Adaptive".

Just tested it, full screen, no border, no flickering, no tearing. I'll play more later to see if it holds up, but so far so good.
Interesting. I assume then that you are using a monitor with higher than 1080p resolution? I don't have any compatibility settings checked for ClaDun so I'm just trying to learn more about this.

Regarding the flickering, I am glad you mentioned that fix, as previously I was using a frame rate limiter to keep the game at 60 FPS. That fixed it for me but your method may be better.
Nope, I'm on 1080p. I only remembered checking that box because once before I had a similar problem, but I can't remember which game it was now.

You can get the game to run at 60 fps? Mine still says 30.

I've noticed that the in-game FPS counter and the Steam overlay FPS counter show different numbers for this game. The Steam overlay shows 60 (most of the time) while the in-game shows 30, or half of whatever Steam shows. One of a few odd technical issues with this game.

It feels like the in-game counter is more accurate than Steam in this case, however I still know that applying an external FPS limiter to 60 will fix my flickering issues when V-sync is enabled.
