Higher damage = more damage per hit = higher damage
As far as which nets more damage, i'm not sure. I usually focus more on dps than damage because dps enables you to deal alot of damage in a short amount of time while higher damage and slower attack speed requires you to land your hits effectively to deal the damage. Try combining both, it works well ;)
lol higher attack speed doesnt mean higher DPS always.
for example, lets say we have a character slashes his sword every 2 seconds, dealing 10 damage per slash.
his current dps is 5
if you got an upgrade that doubles his attack speed, he slashes every 1 second dealing 10 damage.
his dps with the attack speed upgrade would be 10 now.
if you got an upgrade that double his damage, he slashes every 2 seconds dealing 20 damage.
his dps is still 10.
for OP: damage is better, hands down. rarely does anyone rush attack speed before damage. the only exception would be sentry or penny maybe. for yuri, damage and attack speed are good.
Edit for the OP:
Higher attack speed = more hits more second = higher base dps
Increased damage = higher damage per hit abd higher dps
Attack speed plus Higher damage = more hits per second plus higher damage per hit = very high dps
agghhhh nobody understands the question.
I know this, but isnt that EXACTLY the same as a damage upgrade juts applied in a different way. functionally its the same.
I just want to know which actually nets more damage.
All Yuri's damage upgrades increase his base DPS in intervals of 50, save for Hubble, which increases it by 100. Attack speed increases his DPS by 40 at base, 50 with one damage upgrade, 60 with two, and so on. Thus, it's best to get at least one damage upgrade first, then speed. My usual row is range, Hubble, and attack speed, in that order (but laser is generally the last thing you build into).
Burst so, higher damage. This game are mainly small skirmishes, so dealing large amounts of damage proves to be effective.
Hubble Lens is the best DPS upgrade. Flyswatter and Resonance Amplifier are awful. Instant Charge Battery is decent but comes second to Hubble Lens. Instant Charge Battery increases the tick rate per second by 1 per rank. So you go from 5 ticks a sec to 7 with both ranks. So after you get Hubble, Battery becomes an amazing DPS boost.
Instant Charge Battery is by no means mandatory, though. It has strong competition in Giant Monocle and Baby Yeti. So basically pick Hubble then grab whichever other two you want.
Personally, this[nautsbuilder.com] is the laser row I find myself frequently taking. It gives you a dangerous close combat presence. However, switching either upgrade out for range is definitely a good choice.
Just never use Flyswatter or Resonance Amplifier. At least, as of this patch. They might get buffed in 2.10 for all I know.
