Forming Roman Empire.
I was wondering, I would like to form the Roman Empire, my question is where would I start for that? I know my character has to be Roman, and Hellenic. But after I take a specific lands, will I get an event to form the Roman Empire?

actually it doesnt have to be roman or hellenic. and to form the roman empire you just have to play as the byzantine empire and retake all the lands that used to make up the roman empire

So I can't make the Roman Empire as a republic?

not unless you manage to turn the byzantine empire into a republic. gotta be the byzantines thats the requirement. the byzantine empire was the eastern half of the old roman empire after it collapsed so only the byzantines in game can restore it

you also need the legacy of rome dlc

I have that DLC. Eh. I guess it will be less interesting to try it as Byzantines, but Thank you .

you might try starting as a republic and then conquering the byzantine empire and then forming the roman empire

sounds like an interesting way to go. might definitely try that.

it sounds like you need to play Rome: Total War 2 instead.

1: Start as a Republic, no matter where/when/why/how.
2: Usurp the Byzantine Empire (requirement: own 50%+1 de jure lands).
3: Meet the requirements for the decision! (Duchies of Latium, Venice, Ferrera, Sicily, Genoa, Capua, Apulia, Thrace, Antioch, Jerusalem, Alexandria, Athens, Tunis and Croatia).
4: Enjoy :)

Sounds like I enjoy Crusader Kings, and want to form the Empire as a Republic. thanks for adding nothing of value to the discussion though. I appreciate it.

try starting as Venice and see if you can swear Fealty to the ERE, then you can work at gaining the title from the inside.

You most likely will be, if not it will be due to your religion. Seeing as how Venice is de jure to BE.

So, is it possible to usurp Byzantium and restore the Roman Empire as a Republic?

If your a republic you must totally destory ere empire and remake the title and you must be orthodox to make it and have 80% of the lands
