WHAT HAPPENED TO MY KIDS?
I am the Byzantine Emperor and I played the game today after an absense, and to my horror, discovered that some bastard blinded my kids. All of them. The thing is, they were never captured in battle, and some of them aren't even living within my borders as I married them off to foreigners. Aside from wanting to crush the monster into the dust and put his head on a pike, I would like to know how this happened.

I did castrate someone though, and I assasinated many of my foreign foes. But how could I not notice an attack that disabled my entire family?

This is caused by a new trait causing an off by one error for all traits in old games, making all born in the purples blind. There is a mod in the mod forum that fixes it (you'll notice it by it's name) or you can move the siege leader trait from 00_traits.txt to the end of 02_traits.txt.

EDIT: found a link - http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?708249-Saves-and-1.11&p=15941572&viewfull=1#post15941572

Thanks happycats517, but I am afraid I am too tachnologically illtierate to follow your advice. Would starting a new game with the Byzantine Empire lead to the same result? I could ask my friend on teamviewer for help next week.
The problem does not effect new games, so you won't have any troubles if you start a new game.

If you want to use your old saves, follow this link: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?708249-Saves-and-1.11/page2&p=15937132#post15937132, go to post #29 (The post will have a link called v1.11 fix for older saves, or something like that, it should be the ninth post down), click on the link, save the file that will want to be downloaded, find where it downloaded (probably in your downloads folder) and move the contents of the folder into the mod directory at My Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings II/mod. If a mod folder does not exist, just create a folder and name it mod. Launch CK2, on the launcher, look at the bottom right, there should be a box showing your mods. Click on the checkbox next to v1.11 fix for older saves (or something similar). Launch your game and load up your old save. Your family should have the correct traits now.

Sorry if my instructions are still unclear, I'm used to doing things like this so I might have left out something vital without realizing it.
