Cant declear holy war

Im playing as Orthodox and trying to declear holy war against pagans and muslims, but i cant. Is there any conditions that need to be fulfilled? Iv'e been trying for about a 100 years

Are you trying to declare war on an independent ruler or on his vassal? I can't think of a single instance where holy war is disabled. Just make sure you're trying to declare war on the right person.

So if you want to holy war for a duchy, but the duke is vassal to a king or emperor, you have to declare holy war on the emperor. So - if the King or Emperor is not a pagan or muslim, this is where you would have your problem. If the Duke is Muslim but the King/Emperor is Orthodox, you won't be able to use holy war to get the land.

Are you running any mods? Some require the antagonist to expend piety to declare a holy war.

"I just lost my cynical trait as Alexios Komnenos and the religious cb appeared, so i went into the cb file and took a look at the religious cb. It would seem that with Meneth's setup, certain traits precludes you from having access to the religious cb, just as certain traits are required and certain traits precludes you from having access to the imperial reconquest cb.

You can't be content, craven, cynical, stressed, lunatic or possessed and still have access to the religious cb.

And the requirements for the imperial reconquest are that you have to possess on of these traits, ambitious, possessed, lunatic, brave, wroth or dilligent. And you may not have any of these traits, content, craven, slothful, stressed, depressed, infirm, incapable or blinded.

It is somekind late, but if someone else is looking for it:

Since patch 1.091 you can only declear an Holy War CB on ruler who are connected to your border or are not more then 2 waterfields away.
Had the same problem and it took me a while to get behind it, because i skiped the patch notes.
So hopefully we can spare you searchtime.
